There are few bands that can seamlessly switch between delivering emotionally charged rock anthems and leaving an entire arena in stitches. On 27 June, FTISLAND proved exactly why they have remained one of Korea’s most beloved live rock bands as they returned for 2026 FTISLAND TOUR XIX — ‘FaTe’ in Singapore at Arena @ EXPO, marking their return since 2024.
Hongki’s Mysterious Entrance Cast the First Spell
From the moment the lights dimmed, frontman Lee Hongki made it clear this would be no ordinary rock concert. Dressed in a flowing robe while carrying a lantern, he wandered through the arena before taking the stage, greeting lucky fans (PRIMADONNAs) up close as anticipation reached its peak.
Launching straight into powerful performances of ‘Satisfaction‘, ‘Hourglass‘, and ‘Sage‘, the trio wasted no time reminding fans why their live shows remain their greatest strength. Hongki’s unmistakable live vocals, Jaejin‘s commanding bass lines and Minhwan‘s explosive drumming immediately transformed the venue into a sea of singing voices and fans waving their pentasticks – FT Island’s Official lightstick with their flag.

Written in the Cards, Reunited by Fate
While FTISLAND’s musicianship was impeccable throughout the evening, it was their effortless chemistry that truly stole the show. Much of the concert felt like a stand-up comedy performance, with Hongki’s quick wit driving countless hilarious exchanges.
After greeting the crowd, Jaejin thanked Singapore PRIMADONNAs for filling the venue after such a long wait since their last visit. Minhwan also addressed fans sincerely, acknowledging that “a lot of things have happened” while they were away and apologised for any inconvenience before promising to repay everyone with his best performance behind the drums. When it came time for Hongki to speak, he was nowhere near the microphone. Instead, Jaejin casually informed the audience that “Hongki is eating now“, prompting laughter throughout the arena. Moments later, Hongki appeared mid-snack, happily declaring that “the fruits are delicious,” before finally introducing himself.
The playful atmosphere continued as they invited touring guitarist, Shane from Japan to greet the crowd. Making his first visit here with FTISLAND, he shared his excitement about performing as the support for the band in Singapore, receiving warm cheers from the audience.
Hongki later asked if anyone understood the meaning behind the tour’s title, “FaTe,” and after waiting for answers that could not be decoded from the crowd, Jaejin jokingly suggested that Hongki should simply explain it himself. Referencing the imagery of tarot cards, Hongki shared that the tour represents fate and destiny—reflecting both the band’s journey together and their connection with fans who have continued supporting them through the years.
That sense of destiny was witnessed in a fan project prepared by Singapore PRIMADONNAs, who wore bright yellow star wristbands throughout the concert. Curious, Hongki asked what they were for before joking that perhaps it was prepared for him because he was a “home star.” Delighted by the thoughtful gesture from the local fans, he happily collected four of it and handed one to each member who were then seen wearing it throughout the night.

Yesterday’s Classics, Today’s Memories
With some first-time concertgoers in attendance, FTISLAND revealed they had rearranged several of their classic hits to give fans a fresh listening experience. One standout moment came with a slowed-down rendition of ‘Love Love Love‘, which transformed the familiar classic hit into a heartfelt singalong.
Naturally, Hongki could not resist becoming the audience’s vocal coach in-between when he tried to orchestrate a sing-along.
The first attempt? “Too fast and no feelings” he commented.
The second? He blamed Minhwan for not continuing the drums to which the maknae immediately defended himself, saying he could not see Hongki’s cue because all he could see was his back.
By the third and last attempt, the entire hall finally delivered the emotional performance Hongki had been hoping for, earning applause from all three members when it ended.
“Aircon Bang Bang” and “Hyung beot-so, I beot-so”
As always, Hongki’s observations extended far beyond the music. Looking around the venue, he commented that perhaps it was because of the atmosphere, but the venue felt unusually warm. Still, he quickly decided indoor concerts were far better. However, noticing that fans still wanted a cooling environment, he got the hall to shout “Aircon bang bang pls“, – meaning to blast the aircon. Ironically, moments after performing ‘Cloud‘, a confetti was slowly floated through the air. Not missing a beat, Hongki pointed at the drifting confetti and declared that it was proof that the air-conditioning was truly bang bang, hence it could not fall to the ground—before confidently adding that it was simply “Hongki power” that made it all possible.
Later in the night, fans also repeatedly encouraged him to remove his outer wear. Hongki stubbornly refused, but when challenged by an older male fan, he replied “Hyung beot-so, I beot-so“, suggesting that he will only remove if the other older male fan is willing to take off his shirt. Needless to say, neither happened.
During ‘Falling Star‘, lucky fans were invited to run alongside with Hongki around the hall, creating one of the night’s most memorable interactions and giving several PRIMADONNAs an unforgettable close-up experience.

Nineteen Years Written, Twenty Yet to Come
Towards the finale, Hongki explained why the setlist included several Japanese tracks. Since FTISLAND had spent many years actively promoting in Japan, they initially considered separating Korean and Japanese songs into different style to distinguish the two. Eventually, however, they realised every song represents FTISLAND’s journey, regardless of language. “They’re all our songs”, Hongki commented. He also offered an honest glimpse into the band’s preparations for next year’s milestone and confessed that the members have many ideas and high expectations for their 20th anniversary album and concerts, but also worry whether they can execute everything as well as they hope. He revealed that celebrations would likely only be in Korea on 7 June next year, inviting fans – one year in advance to join them if possible.
Jaejin admitted he was touched that Singapore fans could still sing along to every song despite the long gap between visits. Knowing that PRIMADONNAs had continued listening to their music even while they were apart made him incredibly happy, and he hopes to carry those memories through the remainder of the FaTe tour and into their upcoming 20th anniversary.
Minhwan echoed those sentiments, saying he had an amazing time and hoped they would not have to wait so longbefore meeting Singapore fans again.
The celebration concluded with a cake marking FTISLAND’s 19th anniversary alongside a champagne bottle. Although Hongki confessed that he does not enjoy champagne, he still popped it and the band thanked fans for preparing this moment for them.

A Legacy Still Being Written
Nearly two decades into their career, FTISLAND continues to prove why they remain one of Korea’s premier live rock bands. Their concerts are not just showcases of impressive live vocals and musicianship—they are gatherings where laughter, nostalgia, heartfelt conversations and explosive rock performances exist side by side.
As they inch closer to their historic 20th anniversary, one thing is certain: the bond between FTISLAND and PRIMADONNAs remains as strong as ever.
Twenty years is no small feat in any industry, let alone in K-Pop. If Singapore’s unforgettable night at FaTe was any indication, FTISLAND’s story is far from over and fans around the world will undoubtedly be rooting for the trio as they embark on thenext chapter of their remarkable journey.
