[SINGAPORE] MAMAMOO Leaps ‘4WARD’ with MooMoos in a Stadium Return

Anticipation hung heavy in the air at the Singapore Indoor Stadium as thousands of MooMoos gathered, after 3 years, for MAMAMOO’s long-awaited reunion for their ‘4WARD‘ tour. This world tour carries profound significance for MooMoos who have been waiting patiently, and at times anxiously, for Solar, Moonbyul, Wheein and Hwasa to share a stage again after separating into different companies for their solo endeavours. Yet, MAMAMOO proved their unbreakable bond and reassured every MooMoo with the literal title of the tour, ‘4WARD’. A clever play on words, it serves as a promise to the fandom and signifies the members’ desire to continue moving forward together with MooMoos. 

MAMAMOO’s ever-growing success is evidenced by a huge venue upgrade from their previous ‘MY CON’ world tour, moving from The Star Theatre to the Singapore Indoor Stadium. “The arena itself is really big and there are so many seats, but I am really surprised to see that every single seat is filled with our MooMoos,” Wheein mused. “There are people all the way up to the third floor!”

Renowned for being a top-tier vocal powerhouse with flawless live vocals and unmatched stage charisma, the quartet truly left MooMoos with a night to remember. Without further ado, let us dive into the unforgettable highlights that made this evening one for the books.

MAMAMOO opened with a bang, igniting the evening with a thrilling performance of Mr. Ambiguous. The stage transformed into a vintage Broadway-style spectacle, complete with the glow of marquee lights and sweeping red curtains. Clad in dazzling, all-white outfits, the four members stood like angels under the spotlight. 

The high-energy mood continued as they progressed with powerful performances of Destiny, Egoistic and 4x4ever. Their legendary raw vocals and commanding stage presence left every MooMoo in awe. MAMAMOO delivered breathtaking live vocal performances one after another, leaving the stadium gasping by the end of each stage. MAMAMOO continued to treat MooMoos with a tapestry of hits: Piano Man, Décalcomanie, and soul-stirring masterpieces I Miss You and Starry Night. 

A standout moment arrived when MAMAMOO shed their elegant personas to dive into a playful, high-energy set. Launching strong into a lighthearted trot-style diss track Taller than you, MooMoos erupted in giggles as the members mockingly bickered over their 1cm height differences. English translations of the lyrics were shown on the big screen and proved to be a brilliant move as Singapore MooMoos could fully understand and laugh along with the petty real-time teasing.

They smoothly transitioned to Sleep in the Car, a chaotic hiphop anthem that turned the whole arena into a dance floor. In Sleep in the Car, the members hilariously vented over the lack of sleep and bickered over who is more exhausted. These songs offered a refreshing contrast to their soul-stirring ballads and beautifully showcased MAMAMOO’s versatility as artists, where they can turn “unserious” everyday moments into addictive tracks where everyone could let their hair down and have fun together.

The upbeat momentum continued with a lively medley consisting of AZE GAG, Waggy, NEW YORK, Freakin Shoes and Baton Touch. Once again, we were completely blown away by the stage production quality as MAMAMOO revived the Broadway musical aesthetic from Mr. Ambiguous, bringing out an elaborate staircase setup akin to one in a musical theatre performance.

Another absolute highlight of the evening was when it was time for the members’ solo stages. These stages did not just showcase their individuality, distinct vocal strengths and commanding stage presence, MAMAMOO’s love for MooMoos were also on full display. By thoughtfully emerging from different parts of the stadium, fans across different sections could see and have a chance to interact with them up-close. 

Hwasa took the arena by surprise by appearing directly between the audience seating and standing pen area to sing So Cute. She took her time to interact with MooMoos as she slowly made her way up to the stage. The transition between members was also particularly memorable as Hwasa passed her microphone like a baton to Wheein, who blew everyone away with her sheer vocal power in singing The Symphony of Fxxkboys.

Following her solo stage, she made her way down the stage to pass the microphone to Moonbyul. Moonbyul started off Hertz right from the centre of the stadium floor, her fierce rapping and magnetic charisma completely dominating the arena. Finally, to wrap it all up, Solar delivered a magnificent vocal performance with Blues, effortlessly belting insane high notes one after another before ending off with a dramatic mic toss, leaving every MooMoo in complete awe. 

The evening continued to deepen with a string of absolute fan favourites: 4 Flowers, AYA, HIP, Dingga, gogobebe and Windflower. MAMAMOO appeared for their encore from a surprise stage in the centre of the stadium once again, concluding the night on a massive high with their iconic hits You’re the Best, Um Oh Ah Yeh and Yes I Am.

Now we all know that MAMAMOO are stellar live performers, yet they still surpassed expectations with every stage they performed. Beyond their powerful performances, it was so endearing to also witness their humorous side. Aside from their comedic music segment, many elements of the show brought collective laughter to the arena. Solar’s repetitive English phrases “Please shh” and “Good“, chaotic pre-recorded videos that were a hilarious throwback to their rookie variety show days, them collectively making the same mistake of starting the song too early — it was truly a fun-filled time of laughter!

It is not an understatement to say that MAMAMOO poured their absolute all for this concert. Thank you MAMAMOO for giving us a night that will be etched in our hearts for a long time. We will be eagerly waiting for the next time you come back to our shores!
