[PHILIPPINES] DJ HYO Electrifies Filipino SONEs at Exclusive DJ Set in Manila

Filipino SONEs flocked to House Manila in Pasay City on Feb 8 to spend a lit Saturday night with the one and only DJ HYO, who was in town for an exclusive DJ set.

Prior to DJ HYO’s set, the House Manila stage was also graced by homegrown talents such as DJ NIX DAMN P, DJ Angelo G from Wave 89.1 FM, and R&B singer LOX.

On the latter part of his set, DJ Angelo G hyped up Filipino SONEs by spinning a remix of Girls’ Generation’s ‘PARTY’, the lead single from their fifth studio album, <Lion Heart>. Filipino SONEs whipped out their lightsticks and filled the club with a sea of pink as they chanted: “Kumare!” (a term of endearment for women in the Philippines, mostly synonymous with a girl best friend).

Sure enough, DJ HYO finally came on stage and gave everyone what they came for as she spun mix after mix, including her own songs ‘Sober’, ‘Punk Right Now’, and ‘Badster’. She also gave her own spin on viral hits such as Tyga’s ‘Ayy Macarena’ and Cardi B’s ‘Bodak Yellow’.

Filipino SONEs didn’t miss a single beat when DJ HYO spun a remix of one of Girls’ Generation’s most iconic singles, ‘Gee’. For their fan project, Filipino SONEs prepared banners that read, “You’re the best DJ!” which DJ HYO herself waved on stage. The energy inside House Manila didn’t drop until the very end as DJ HYO capped off the night with Coldplay’s ‘Viva La Vida’.

DJ HYO, more known as Hyoyeon of the best-selling and multi-awarded girl group Girls’ Generation, kicked off her DJing career in 2018 under SM Entertainment’s electronic dance music label, Scream Records. She then went on to promote actively as a DJ in domestic club tours and EDM festivals under her new stage name.
