[PHILIPPINES] Bobby Lifts Fans to Cloud Nine in ‘Zero Gravity’ Manila Concert

Bobby, South Korean rapper and member of boy group iKON, took his Zero Gravity Tour to sunny Manila last March 17, 2024.

With their KONBATs in tow, iKONICs and SiRs filled the SM North EDSA Skydome to see Bobby again after seven months. Bobby last visited Manila in August of 2023 when iKON held their Take Off World Tour in Manila at the Mall of Asia Arena.

Bobby’s Zero Gravity Tour marks his first solo performance in the country. He was supposed to join the artist lineup for the Wanderland Music & Arts Festival last year, but had to pull out at the last minute due to “unforeseen events”.

Nevertheless, it was definitely worth the wait for fans as Bobby finally made his way to Manila to greet them as a soloist.

Bobby kicked off the show with back-to-back performances of f and DeViL.

“Mabuhay!” he greeted the ecstatic red ocean of fans. “Welcome to 2024, Bobby’s here! Manila, I finally made it here.” After the brief introduction, Bobby then performed NO TIME and hercules!.

“I can’t believe I’m in Manila right now, you know,” Bobby said. “I never thought Manila would be so hot!”

He also briefly talked about his latest song, Harmless, and its music video. Harmless is the title track of his newest album, Sir.Robert, which was released last February 28.

Bobby then continued on the show with RUNAWAY, LEAN ON ME, moon, and Cherry Blossom.

In another talking segment with the crowd, Bobby mentioned that he was supposed to come to Manila last year as a soloist, pertaining to his cancelled appearance at the Wanderland Festival: “I feel so happy right now that I can [be here]. I’m so happy I finally made it to Manila.”

He also took the time to teach the crowd some Korean! He taught them the expression 찢었다 (jji-jeot-ta) which means, according to Bobby, “That’s f***ing great!”

Bobby went on with the concert with Let iT Go and In THE DaRk. Afterwards, his live band treated the crowd to some sweet instrumentals while Bobby went backstage for a quick outfit change.

The show blasted on with HOLUP!, GO, YGGR#Hip Hop, and why stop now.

Of course, Bobby wouldn’t let the show pass by without taking the time to introduce the live band members on stage. He even asked fans to use their newly learned phrase, 찢었다 (jji-jeot-ta), after every band member introduced.

Bobby also noticed the banners prepared by fans which read “Come back safely” from the left, “Serve well, Bobby” from the right, and “We will wait for you” from the centre. He went to salute after seeing the encouraging messages.

Bobby and the rest of the iKON members are expected to fulfil their mandatory military service soon, following their leader Jay who enlisted in July last year.

As the main setlist of his concert winded down, Bobby performed crowd favourites TENDAE, U MAD, BrEAk It DoWn, and HeartBROKEN PlaYBoY.

During their Take Off concert in Manila last year, Bobby also sang HeartBROKEN PlaYBoY for his solo song.

Bobby returned on stage wearing a Philippine flag-themed jacket and performed GorGeOuS as the first encore song.

The rapper noticed the hand banner held by fans and requested everyone to say what was written on it out loud. The crowd, of course, happily obliged and shouted, “We f***ing love you!”

Fans also prepared a white banner featuring a drawing of Bobby sitting on top of a Filipino jeepney. iKONICs and SiRs filled the banner with short personal messages to Bobby, and he proudly posed with it during the photo time.

Bobby finally closed out his first solo show in Manila with FIREWORK, SWIM, and, for the second time, HeartBROKEN PlaYBoY, as cherry blossom-shaped confetti rained down on everyone.

Bobby, together with the rest of iKON, is set to return to the Philippines next month for their 2024 iKON LIMITED TOUR – GET BACK in Manila. This will be the group’s last concert in the country before enlisting in the military.

The Seoul Story would like to thank Three Angles Production for the media invite!
