[MALAYSIA] GOT7 BamBam Rizzed Up Malaysian IGOT7s At His First Solo Concert

GOT7 member and solo artist BamBam recently held his first solo concert as part of the Asian leg of his AREA 52 world tour at Mega Star Arena on October 15, 2023! Read on as we recap what happened during the concert!

Welcome Back to Malaysia, BamBam!

BamBam is no stranger to Malaysian shores, having performed here with his group GOT7 back in 2015 and 2016 for their Fanmeeting tours. The septet were also scheduled to have a Kuala Lumpur stop as part of their KEEP SPINNING World Tour back in March 2020, but was unfortunately cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Fresh off his first solo full-length studio album release, BamBam embarked on his first world tour as a solo artist, and Kuala Lumpur were one of the stops for his [AREA 52] world tour.

The concert started at 7PM local time, as BamBam made his grand entrance to the stage with his dancers as he performed Intro (Satellites) that smoothly transitioned into tracks Wheels Up and Pandora. He then continued with catchy pop tracks Sour & Sweet off of his latest album with the same name, and Ride or Die.

His vocal colour and dance moves were fully showcased as he performed Let’s Dance (with a solo dance break at the end of the track) and Who Are You, where he performed a mesmerising choreography with his female dance partner.

Rizzed Up By The Fans

In his introduction, BamBam mentioned that he was well aware that the solo concert was highly anticipated by Malaysian IGOT7s, since the 2020 GOT7 Keep Spinning tour was cancelled due to COVID-19. Moving forward, he hoped that his performances tonight could make up for the past loss.

BamBam got the fans vibing with his tracks Take It Easy, GHOST and Wings, showcasing his smooth vocals, before interacting with the fans by reading their banners. After reading some of them [one banner asked him why are there so many people in their date, Sayang (love in Malay)], he admitted that he was rizzed up (charmed) by some of the banners that he saw that night.

He then surprised the fans with his cover of Malay track Pulang by local band Insomniacks. His pronunciation was on point as the fans sang along to the tunes. He even sang the song twice as per the fans’ request.

After that, a lucky draw to select 21 lucky fans from all sections to have a 1:1 photo session with him backstage was held, where BamBam personally picked the lucky concertgoers.

BamBam then continued with TIPPY TOE, Air, and Subliminal, before ending the concert with the song that he said “changed his life”, riBBon.

A Concert For The Fans

The arena was filled with the fans chanting his name and cheering excitedly, hoping that BamBam would perform an encore stage. Soon enough, he was back and performed an encore stage of his track Look So Fine, and surprised the fans by coming down to the stage to interact with the audience at the front area.

During his final ment, BamBam said that he will never have a separate solo fandom name as he already has a big IGOT7 family as his fans. He then paid tribute to his GOT7 members, performing Na Na Na, Hard Carry, Lullaby and Just Right before finally ending the concert.

Throughout the concert, BamBam was very appreciative of the support that IGOT7s has given to him. Throughout the concert, he does his best to interact with the audience, be it by reading the front stage fan banners, going down to the stage to see the fans closer, as well as giving his tour shirt to a lucky fan.

The 2-hour long concert was wonderful as BamBam skrrt-skrrted his way into the hearts of the fans. We look forward to his next visit to Malaysia, whether as a solo artist, or as part of GOT7.
