Actor-singer-songwriter and EXO member Park Chanyeol is back in Malaysia for his solo fancon tour at Mega Star Arena on March 2, 2024
Read on as we recap what went on during the concert!

A year after Chanyeol visited Malaysia with fellow EXO-SC member Sehun for the EXO-SC fancon tour, he is now back in town, but now as a soloist for his fancon tour ‘The Eternity’. The event started off with a press conference which were attended by the media and fans who won the VIP fan benefit through lucky draw. These lucky fans were able to interact closely with Chanyeol!

Chanyeol was congratulated by the crowd on his 12th debut anniversary and EXO-L were being super curious and excited for the upcoming EXO fanmeeting in Seoul. He shared that there will be something new that they have never experienced before, hence fans should be looking forward to it! He even encouraged Malaysian EXO-L to meet them in South Korea to have fun together.

Returning back to Malaysia as a solo artist, he felt overwhelmed and nervous but thanks to the passionate energy from Malaysian EXO-L, he believed that he could comfortably enjoy his time in Kuala Lumpur.

The emcee continued to ask for more TMI (too much information) to know how he spent the Lunar New Year with his family. He openly shared that he spent time at his mother’s and grandmother’s houses and had good food together which was healing for him. Chanyeol also shared that he went to Dominic Fyke’s concert in Los Angeles two years ago and gained a lot of inspiration from the visit.

Before the press conference came to an end, Chanyeol reminded his fans who may be struggling in life to always take care of themselves and do a lot of exercises. While doing so, he hoped that they would wait for him since he promised to continue performing and releasing songs for his beloved fans. To enlighten the mood, he expressed his love by saying ‘Sayang, sayang’ (my love) in Bahasa Melayu and that melted everyone’s hearts.

The fancon officially started at 5PM local time with Chanyeol entering the stage performing a solo version of Nothin’ with his dancers. He was then joined by the emcee as he formally introduced himself to the audience. He also took some time to say some of the Malay phrases that he learnt during the press conference such as ‘Rindu gilo wei’ (I miss you so much) and ‘Sayang sayang’ which instantly melted all the EXO-Ls and Yeolmaes attending the fancon.

There were several segments prepared throughout the fancon to enable the audience to get to know Chanyeol better. The first segment was #CHANYEOL, where Chanyeol shared some unreleased pictures of him in various situations with some additional commentary from Chanyeol himself.

The second segment was CY TMI NEWS, where Chanyeol was tasked to answer as many TMIs questions within 100 seconds. The fans were delighted to see Chanyeol being put on the spot with some of the questions, which was very entertaining.

The third segment was the 2024 CHANYEOL Awards, where the fans got to guess on what was Chanyeol’s top pick on categories such as the most meaningful song for him, the hair colour that he wanted to try again, as well as the place that he wanted to experience in Kuala Lumpur.

Chanyeol picked the song Tomorrow as he remembered writing the song before he entered his military service. He also picked silver coloured hair as his hair colour of choice, and said he wanted to experience Jalan Alor (Alor Street) as he’s a foodie and would like to try delicious delicacies that the street has to offer. Chanyeol then used his “superpower” to transform the arena to 4 seasons as he performed SSFW, his single from 2019.

A short break later, Chanyeol returned to the stage for the next segment: 60-Second Challenge, where he was tasked to complete a series of challenges such as balancing game, basketball shootout and blind picking Malaysian dishes based on the name only in order to earn rewards. After two tries, Chanyeol was successful and the fans were rewarded with Chanyeol performing the dance challenge of the viral EXO hit The First Snow.

The fan interaction did not stop there as some lucky fans were chosen to share a screen with him for a shared selfie pose. Chanyeol also took the chance to read some Post-its messages shared by EXO-Ls attending the fancon and sharing his advice. He then treated the fans with his lovely low tone voice as he performed Tomorrow, before hyping the audience by performing a solo version of Fly Away.

Towards the end of the fancon, Malaysian EXO-Ls and Yeolmaes prepared a surprise fan event for him where they prepared a video package showcasing what Chanyeol meant to each of them. He thanked all the fans who supported him throughout his journey, and promised to be a better singer for the fans.

Alas, all good things must come to an end, as he performed Rodeo Station accompanied by loud fanchants from the fans, and the iconic hit Good Enough as a special encore performance to finally end the fancon.

The 2-hour long fancon was a blast as the audience were able to bask in the presence of the one and only Park Chanyeol. We look forward to his next visit to Malaysia, whether as a soloist or with his fellow EXO members.
