Consisting of nine members, NOA, SIAN, KEVIN, GUNWOO, LEO, ON, ZERO, KAIRI and KIO, rookie group T1419 officially made their debut on January 11 under MLD Entertainment. In conjunction with their 1st single album BEFORE SUNRISE Part.1, the boys sat down for an exclusive interview with The Seoul Story! Let’s find out more about the boys of T1419 🙂
Q: Congratulations on your debut! Please introduce T1419 to The Seoul Story followers.
A: Hello The Seoul Story Nine Boys Appear! We are T1419. We just recently made our debut and many of you may be curious about what T1419 stands for. T stands for teenagers; we are trying to become the voice that represents the youth. ‘14’ and ‘19’ in T1419 signifies the age we first met; it’s quite meaningful as it contains the message that we will never forget the beginning of T1419 and this moment.
Q: Please introduce your song ASURABALBATA.
A: Our title track ASURABALBALTA is an extremely powerful EDM based hip-hop track that contains the message of making wishes come true, which also showcases T1419’s aspirations. Hope everyone loves our debut single and look forward to our performances as well.
Q: Name one memory you have while preparing for your debut.
NOA: The most memorable memory would be our debut showcase. I felt a rush of different emotions since it was our very first stage.
SIAN: It would be when I met our members for the first time. And I realised how close we’ve become after watching our T1419 documentary.
KEVIN: After watching our documentary, I looked back and realised that the entire debut preparation itself was the most memorable moment for me. It’s an unforgettable memory because everything that we did was new, including the new environment and experiences that I’ve gained.
GUNWOO: It has to be when we filmed our music video for Dracula. It was my first time experiencing such a long shoot, and it was also the moment when I felt various emotions because it would be the very first music video to be showcased to the world.
LEO: Our music video shooting day was probably one of the first memorable memory for me. It wasn’t easy but a great experience for us all.
ON: Every single moment is memorable to me. As it has been revealed in our documentary, the debut preparation was the most challenging, but also the most rewarding moment for us all. It’s definitely an unforgettable moment.
ZERO: Just as ON has mentioned, as seen in our documentary, there were many challenging moments but we were able to overcome the difficult time because we supported one another.
KAIRI: One memory would be when we practiced until late at night together, and our first shoot together for Dracula was also memorable because we had on special effect makeup on.
KIO: I remember when we stood in front of the audience for the first time at our showcase. It was also our first time on stage, so I remember being extremely nervous.
Q: Were there any interesting incidents while filming the MV or recording for your album?
GUNWOO & SIAN: We had fire blazing on set for ASURABALBALTA and there was smoke everywhere. And it was our first time dancing near the fire, so it was really quite exciting to be on set. And it was fun to watch all the members getting into the moment while shooting the music video together.
LEO, ON & KAIRI: We also agree with GUNWOO and SIAN. We also think dancing near the fire was the most memorable. It felt like we were in a steam room and we remember our members’ noses were covered with ash.
KIO: There was a music video set with snow, so we all had a snowball fight during our break time together. This was really fun.
KEVIN: I remember that there was a particular member who fell asleep while lying down on a forest set. So the director and the rest of us had to make sure that he didn’t fall asleep while filming.
NOA: I think it was a bonding moment for us to be together on set for our music video! So it may sound simple but eating on set together was the most interesting and memorable to me.
ZERO: I remember watching KIO filming his scene for the music video teaser on set. And he looked so cute when he was looking at the camera from left and right.
Q: What is one thing you would like the public to know about T1419?
A: Since our fans already know that we’re a group comprised of four Japanese members and five Korean members, we would like for our fans to know that we have unlimited potential. We have many more unseen charms and sides to show. We will work hard to make sure that our fans don’t regret loving our music and performances!
Q: What can we expect from T1419 in the future?
A: So far we’ve only shown one side of T1419 through BEFORE SUNRISE Part.1. And there’s so much more music and performances to show our fans. We hope our fans and those who are supporting T1419 continue to watch us grow.
Q: Do you have any goals you would like to achieve in 2021?
A: Definitely the ‘Rookie Award’. It’ll be such an honour to be recognised as the newest rookie in the K-Pop music scene. And we also want our members to stay healthy and do our best to communicate with our fans.
Q: Is there any senior artist you would like to meet backstage during music show promotions?
A: There are so many K-Pop senior artists that we look up to and would love to meet them in person, but we will each quickly name a couple of artists. If we have the opportunity to meet them all in person, then it would be such a meaningful moment for us to receive their professional advice and learn more about their performances.

KAIRI: BTS RM – Reflection (I listen to this when I’m feeling down) and when I need boost of energy I listen to our ASURABALBALTA.
KIO: Dua Lipa – Homesick
Q: Which dish is your comfort food?
NOA: Bread and milk! It’s the best combination for comfort food.
SIAN: Chocolate. These days I’m craving for a lot of sweets, especially chocolate.
KEVIN: Beef is my comfort food. Meals cooked with meat is my favourite.
GUNWOO: Pork and kimchi casserole and it’s also what my mom used to cook often for me. And it makes me think of home so it gives me a lot of comfort.
LEO: Pork belly BBQ is my “go-to” comfort food.
ON: Just like GUNWOO, home-cooked meals are the best comfort food.
KAIRI: My mom’s cooking. Home-cooked meals also give me a sense of comfort.
ZERO: My favourite dish and comfort food is Japanese styled meals!
KIO: Milk! It’s really soothing.
Q: If you have 24 hours to yourself, how would you spend it?
NOA: I would watch Netflix and read books during those 24 hours.
SIAN: Practice our performance, catch up on all the baseball games that I’ve missed, and sleep a lot!
KEVIN: The weather’s so nice these days, so I might go ride my bicycle at Han River, eat, walk, and go shopping.
GUNWOO: I would sleep during the first 8 hours, watch a movie and read comics for 3 hours, eat for an hour, play games for 2 hours, talk to my parents for an hour, contact my friends for an hour, practice dancing for 3 hours, sing for an hour, eat again for another hour, wash up and finally use the remaining 2 hours watching YouTube and reading comics.
LEO: I would love to go travelling alone when the situation becomes better for people to travel.
ON: As LEO has already answered, I also want to go travelling but without my phone!
ZERO: I want to eat my favourite food and lie down on the bed while playing games all day long!
KAIRI: I haven’t been able to travel to Japan for a long time, so I would love to go spend the day in Japan with all of my members together.
KIO: First, I would sleep for 12 hours, then eat lunch, play games, eat dinner at six and return to playing games!
Q: What are some things you do for ‘healing’ time?
NOA & LEO: We both enjoy listening to music. But I (NOA) also like to read books for ‘healing’.
SIAN & KEVIN: KEVIN and I (SIAN) like to be alone sometimes while resting. KEVIN enjoys going to places alone, window shopping and singing.
GUNWOO: Taking a walk at night is ‘healing’ for me. It’s a bit too chilly to walk at night these days, but I often take strolls while listening to music and it helps me organise my thoughts.
ON & KIO: We both also enjoy taking a walk like GUNWOO. I (ON) especially like walking at night, and listening to music as well.
ZERO: I tend to watch my favourite cartoons/animations or play games for ‘healing’.
KAIRI: During my ‘healing’ time, I like to practice alone, and return to our place while listening to ballads. And the best part is when I drink a cup of hot coffee. Other times I like to eat a nice meal, and talk to my mom or friends over the phone.
Q: Tell us your three must-have items with you at all times.
NOA & SIAN: Cologne, hand-lotion, and lip balm
KEVIN: Lip balm, wallet, and air-pods
GUNWOO: Lip balm, AirPods, and my mask! (If I have to exclude my mask, then my phone!)
LEO: My phone, earphones, and wallet
ZERO: My phone, wallet, and AirPods
KAIRI: My phone, family & friends photo, and wallet

A: If we were to describe T1419 in three words, then we would say: Passionate! Perfect! Hard-working!
