[INTERVIEW] izna: Defining Their Sound, Identity & Touring Ambitions

Ahead of their official Southeast Asia tour, The Seoul Story sat down with rising WAKEONE girl group izna for an exclusive interview. MAI, BANG JEE MIN, KOKO, RYU SA RANG, CHOI JUNG EUN and JEONG SAE BI shared insights into their music, the identity they’re building as a group, their touring ambitions, and what they hope to bring to fans in the future.

Q: Congratulations on your first-ever concert tour! How does it feel to finally be meeting your fans in Singapore and connecting with fans across Southeast Asia?

KOKO: I’m so happy and excited that we’ll finally get to meet naya in Singapore in person! Singapore is also one of the places I’ve really wanted to visit, so I’ve been looking forward to it a lot, and I’m thrilled that I finally get to go there!

Q: What are you most looking forward to about performing in Singapore? Is there anything you’ve heard about Singapore that has made you especially excited for this visit?

RYU SA RANG: I’m really looking forward to seeing what kind of energy naya in Singapore will bring while enjoying our stage with us! Also, I’ve heard from so many people that I should try chicken rice when I go to Singapore. I’d love to try it with all the members. [laughs]

Q: Every audience has its own unique energy. What kind of atmosphere are you hoping to create together with your fans across Southeast Asia during this tour?

CHOI JUNG EUN: I hope this tour will be an opportunity to fall even more in love with our music and enjoy every moment together. I want us to create an exciting atmosphere where we can share our energy with our fans and have a great time together!

Q: As izna continues to grow, we’d love to know more about your creative side. Are there any songs or parts of your music where you feel you were able to express your own personality or ideas?

MAI: I think we can express a lot of our own individuality through our performances on stage. In particular, I think special performances like dance breaks and year-end stages have allowed us to show each member’s individual charm even more clearly!

Q: Could you share with fans your most favourite part of an album-making process?

BANG JEE MIN: Recording sessions are definitely my favourite. After only hearing a demo, it’s the most fun when we sing and record the song ourselves as izna for the first time. It’s also really satisfying to feel the song gradually becoming complete in our own style!

Q: Touring can be tiring, especially with back-to-back shows. What are some ways you like to relax and recharge?

KOKO: I can recharge my energy right away by eating something delicious, working out, and taking a warm bath!

Q: Aside from this tour, are there any other places you hope to perform in?

MAI: I want to meet naya in many different parts of the world, including Asia and Europe! I hope we can visit even more places in the future, meet naya in person, and hold our own concerts there too!

Q: Fun question! If you could inherit one characteristic from any member in the group, who would it be and why?

JEONG SAE BI: JUNG EUN’s toned muscles! They look really cool and attractive, so I want to have them too!

Q: If you could describe izna in 3 words what would it be and why?

BANG JEE MIN: “Infinity, purity, and energy.” I think izna is a group with infinite potential, and when I think of the members, “Purity” is the word that comes to mind. I also think the energy we show on stage really represents izna, so I chose these three words!

Q: What is one place you would recommend to someone visiting South Korea for the first time?

RYU SA RANG: The Han River! I really love the Han River, so I often go running or go for walks there. Eating ramyeon by the Han River at night makes me so, so happy! If you come to Korea, you should definitely visit at least once!

Q: We are getting closer to the end of 2026. What can fans expect more from izna in the new year?

CHOI JUNG EUN: I don’t think there’s any limit to what izna will be able to show you in the future. We plan to consistently improve and grow, showing you an even better version of ourselves than we are now, so please keep watching and look forward to it!

Q: Your first concert tour is a chance to create new memories with fans outside Korea. What is something you hope your fans in Singapore can teach or introduce to izna, and what would you like to share with them in return?

JEONG SAE BI: Trying chili crab has been on my food bucket list, so I’d love for naya in Singapore to recommend some good places! I really, really want to try it. And if I could recommend something too, when you come to Seoul, I hope you try tteokbokki with cheese and wide glass noodles, and dip rice balls into it! It’s one of my favorite combinations.

Q: Please say something to the readers of The Seoul Story!

KOKO: If you come to see the ‘2026-2027 izna Concert Tour: WHO DAT GIRL?’, which we’ve put our hearts into, I think you will be able to truly feel what kind of group we are and how much we love and enjoy the stage! We’ve worked very hard to prepare a show that we can present wih confidence, so I really hope you’ll come see us. And please continue to give izna lots and lots of love!
