[INTERVIEW] From The Stage to The Running Track : HIGHLIGHT’s Yang Yoseop on Music, Fitness, and Reuniting With Fans Ahead of Singapore’s Solo Concert

With just weeks to go before his first-ever solo concert, <FADE IN> in Singapore, HIGHLIGHT’s main vocalist Yang Yoseop is gearing up to meet his fans! Before taking the stage, he sat down with The Seoul Story to share more on his favourite memories in Singapore, fitness tips, and his plans for the year ahead.

Q: This is your first ever solo tour to Singapore. How does it feel to be here and how did you prepare differently as a soloist?

Yoseop: I’ve always remembered Singapore as a warm and vibrant country ever since visiting for group concerts. I am genuinely thrilled to be visiting this time for my solo concert. Since the Singapore audience will be hearing many of my solo songs live for the very first time, I’ve been practicing non-stop to deliver the absolute best performance possible.

Q: Do you have any fond memories of your fans here in Singapore?

Yoseop: Way back before our very first Asia tour as BEAST, I remember visiting Singapore for promotions. The fans turned out in droves at the airport to welcome us, and that wonderful memory still sticks with me. I think that’s why whenever we perform in Singapore, the energy and cheers from the fans feel even more passionate.

Q: If someone is listening to your music for the very first time, which song would you recommend and why?

Yoseop: I’d definitely recommend ‘Fade Away’ (옅어져 가), the title track of my latest album. I poured my heart and soul into making it, and both the concept and the musical style represent exactly what I love. I would be so happy if you gave it a listen.

Q: We know that you are a huge fan of running. How did you first get into that, and any advice for us who would like to start but is afraid to do so?

Yoseop: First of all, just step outside. Whether it’s hitting the gym or heading outdoors, the most important thing is to just get out there. There’s a Korean proverb that goes, ‘Starting is half the battle’ (well begun is half done).

Q: Do you see yourself participating in any upcoming Marathon or even maybe Hyrox? Who would you like to bring with you as a sports partner to these events?

Yoseop: I have no plans for that!

Q: You are known as a great vocalist, a member of HIGHLIGHT/BEAST, owns Around Us, singer-songwriter/producer, musical artist to name a few –  what else would you like to try out/challenge in the future?

Yoseop: Right now, I don’t think there’s anything else I’m looking to take on! 🙂

Q: We are already halfway through 2026, what are some of your plans for the rest of the year?

Yoseop: For the rest of the year, alongside my solo tour, we are also gearing up for group activities as HIGHLIGHT. Please look forward to seeing me not just as solo artist Yang Yoseop, but also as HIGHLIGHT’s Yang Yoseop! 🙂
