[INDONESIA] Growing Love for Hwang In Youp at His 1st Fan Meeting in Jakarta

Starting his acting career since 2019, Hwang In Youp has played diverse characters in many famous dramas and receive attention from both local and global audience. He finally got the chance to greet HIYILYs -the name of his fandom- outside of Korea in his first fanmeeting titled The 2022 Hwang In Youp 1st Fan Meeting. Indonesian HIYILYs’ love for Hwang In Youp gradually got bigger as he showed more and more unexplored charms during the fanmeeting on Saturday, August 6 at The Kasablanka Hall.

Attracted by His Acting

HIYILYs’ first meeting with Hwang In Youp is most likely from his amazing acting skill in dramas such as The Tale of Nokdu, 18 Again, True Beauty, The Sound of Magic, and Why Her. His most memorable work as acclaimed by Indonesian fans are no other than True Beauty, the high-school romantic comedy drama where he played as Han Seo Jun.

During the fan meeting, Hwang In Youp talked about some behind stories of True Beauty. One of them is the creation of the legendary Okay Dokey dance scene, that he promptly created with his brother just a day before the scene was taken. Even though he admitted that he doesn’t like dancing, the quirky Han Seo Jun loved it and the dance move is essential to the story. He also talked about the historical drama, The Tale of Nokdu, where he played the swordsman Park Dan Ho. He took action classes for months to correctly present the character to the audience. Seeing the commitment and creativity that he poured to his acting, it’s almost impossible not to fall in love with this man!

When talking about his next project, Hwang In Youp showed his interest in taking another role in historical drama, but this time with a different character. “A prince with cheerful personality would be interesting”, he said while the fans responded with high enthusiasm. He is currently considering his next project carefully and request fans to stay tuned as he will bring more improvement to his acting.

Amazed by His Musical Skill

Other than his solid acting, HIYILYs probably fell deeper in admiration Hwang In Youp because of his voice. Hwang In Youp currently has sung two Soundtrack OSTs for his dramas, It Starts Today for drama True Beauty, and I Mean It for musical drama The Sound of Magic. He sang both songs live in the fan meeting and proved his singing ability to the audience that night.

Fans also talked about wanting to see Hwang In Youp play the guitar, just like what he did in drama The Sound of Magic. He shared that he actually took guitar lessons to play his character, Na Il Deung, beautifully. But unfortunately, he didn’t prepare the guitar performance for the fanmeeting. He also talked about the drum lessons he is currently taking and fans can probably expect his drumming performance in addition of the guitar play in his next fanmeeting.

Fall in Love with His Sweet Personality

Even though it was Hwang In Youp’s first visit to Indonesia, he heard a lot about the country for its beautiful scenery. He talked about enjoying the night view in Jakarta since he usually loves to do late-night driving while looking at the city lights. He also went on about wanting to visit Bali since he heard many good reviews about the island and invited HIYILYs to come with him. During the fanmeeting, he proved his knowledge by giving correct answers to questions about Indonesian culture. He then got the chance to taste Indonesian dishes, Es Kelapa and Bakwan Jagung that he enjoyed very much and wanted to order again after the event. The way he showed enthusiasm and love to the country just made Indonesian HIYILYs fell deeper for his personality.

Some luck fans also got the chance to have interaction and played games with Hwang In Youp in this fanmeeting. They played Arm Wrestle, Ddakji, and Balance Game. Lucky fans got called on to the stage based on lucky draw and needed to win the game in order to get an exclusive polaroid photo with Hwang In Youp. Of course, the sweet Hwang In Youp turned down his competitiveness for the games and let the fans won. He even wanted to play an additional round just to get more interactions with HIYILYs during the event.

Hwang In Youp’s love for his fans can also be felt through his positive words and encouragement for the fans. One of the letters he received from fans that night talked about her struggle to find a job these days. He replied and prayed for anyone who’s currently struggling with something to achieve what they want smoothly. He also drew an encouragement message for a HIYILY on a fan with the word “Fighting” as a special present.

Closing the beautiful night, Hwang In Youp promised that he will return with more amazing projects in the future and would great Indonesian HIYILYs through a fanmeeting again, hopefully showing more charms that people would love to see from him.
