[INDONESIA] From Endearing Catchphrases to Favorite Indonesian Food: A Tell-All of XDINARY HEROES ‘Break the Brake’ Press Conference

South Korean band XDINARY HEROES — comprised of members Gunil, Jungsu, Gaon, O.de, Jun Han, and Jooyeon — made their first visit to Jakarta for their concert, Break the Brake, held on March 2, 2024 at the Kasablanka Hall.

A day prior to their much-anticipated concert, the boys sat down with the press for a press conference where they talked about the meaning of the concert name, the Indonesian food they had tried, and several Indonesian phrases they had learned specifically for the fans.

Since this was the first time they visited the country, the band was asked how they felt about visiting Jakarta to finally meet Indonesian Villains (fandom name). To this, Gunil said, “We are very excited. Previously, we had the chance to meet a couple of Indonesian fans through online fansigns. Additionally, when we did our online concert back in Korea, the energy of Indonesian fans was super positive. So, we cannot wait to see the fans in person and perform for them.”

They also learned a couple of Indonesian phrases for Indonesian fans. Jun Han said, Asyik!” (so fun!) which definitely summed up the experience of meeting XDINARY HEROES. Gunil said, “Villains Indonesia cantik(Indonesian Villains are so beautiful), and O.de said, Sayangku“‘ (my love), showcasing their adoration for the fans.

When asked about the meaning behind the name of the concert, Break the Brake, Gaon explained, “Through this concert, we want to break our own limits and be limitless.” O.de added that they think of each stop as a “limit”, so they were very happy that they got to come to Indonesia and break another limit.

XDINARY HEROES is known for their rock genre, adding uniqueness to the band. When asked about why they decided to choose rock, Gunil elaborated that although they became familiar with the genre through various ways, eventually, it was the rock genre that united them. He also expressed that for now, they are committed to strengthening their rock sound first before trying any other genre.

Aside from talking about their experience in Jakarta and about the concert in general, the boys also mentioned some Indonesian food they had tried. Jun Han said that they tried nasi goreng and rendang. Although the rendang was a little bit spicy, they still managed to enjoy it.

Next, the boys were asked about the meaning of fans for XDINARY HEROES. Gaon said that Villains are their everything. Villains is the reason that the band is able to make music and perform, and they were very grateful for the support. When asked about their future plans, XDINARY HEROES wants to finish the world tour happily and healthily. In addition to this, the band wants to keep making new music for their Villains across the world.

Break the Brake is the XDINARY HEROES’ first world tour. After the Jakarta stop, the group is headed to Taipei, Manila, and Bangkok for the rest of the Asia leg of the tour.
