[FOOD REVIEW] Take an Aromatic Spring Trip with Coffeesmith’s New Seasonal Menu

Are you tired of your usual coffee order? Is the bitter taste of coffee too strong for your liking? Well fret not! Coffeesmith’s new Spring menu is a treat to both the coffee lovers as well as non-coffee lovers. By incorporating the floral scent of lavender and the natural earthy sweetness of matcha, Coffeesmith’s Lavender & Matcha menu is bound to rejuvenate your taste buds with a spring explosion that everyone can appreciate.

We visited their flagship store located at Orchard Gateway, but you can find their seasonal menu at all of their outlets. Coffeesmith is committed to serving quality flavours that are smooth and intense yet familiar and public friendly. With its rustic and cozy interior, the Orchard Gateway Coffeesmith is a comfortable space for anyone and everyone to unwind.

Café Lavender Latte

Price: $7.50 (Hot, R), $8 (L), $8.50 (Iced)

If you’re a usual vanilla latte drinker, the Café Lavender Latte is a familiar yet fresh spin of the classic that you have to try! The bitter notes of the Arabica coffee bean is supplemented and accented by the contrasting floral sweetness of the lavender. The intricate placement of the lavender topping gives the drink the prettiest visual that you can’t bear to stir and destroy.

This is truly a visual and gastronomical treat that you cannot miss out on. You can also have this chilled for a more refreshing alternative! We personally preferred the taste of it iced for its thirst-quenching quality, but the hot one definitely wins in the field of aesthetics!

Earl Grey Lavender Cream Foam

The Earl Grey Lavender Cream Foam is an interesting concoction of two prominent flavours — earl grey and lavender. Despite their distinctness, they come together in a perfect blend. With sprinkles of lavender on top of the foam, the taste of the earl grey comes forth at the tip of the tongue. For the best experience, slurp the drink instead of drinking it with a straw. In doing so, you can taste the fusion of cold foam and coffee in a single gulp. The price might be a bit steep for our liking but it definitely is something you should try.  

Matcha Red Bean Toast

Price: $9.90 / $12.90

The Matcha Red Bean Toast is our personal favourite on the list. Topped with an abundance of fluffy whipped cream drizzled with homemade matcha sauce, the fluffy bread that holds the dessert together makes it a perfect treat for one to indulge in. Hidden inside the whipped cream is a scoop of green tea matcha, which happens to be one of our favourite ice cream flavours. To complete the look, injeolmi is added to the sides of the toast. 

Although the dish might not seem outstanding at first glance, the combination of the ingredients balance each other out. As the sweetness of the toppings seep into the toast at its base, the amalgamation of these two separate counterparts gives a fresh taste to ordinary toast. It is a palatable combination that left us wanting for more.

If you have a low sugar tolerance, we would recommend you to share the Matcha Red Bean Toast with a significant other. The dish tilts to the sweeter side, but is balanced out well when paired with the Café Lavender Latte and Earl Grey Lavender Cream Foam, both of which are rather mild flavours. 

If you’re an avid Americano lover, you can treat yourself and order the Matcha Red Bean Toast with an Americano at just $12.90. With the bitterness of the Americano and the sweetness of the toast, it is a combination that will be sure to perk you up. 

This is the first seasonal menu from Coffeesmith as they are experimenting with new flavours and new seasonal menus. Even though Singapore is perpetually in summer, Coffeesmith’s fresh take on coffee and desserts that is catered to the different seasons allow everyone to experience the different seasons through a gastronomical experience. With the restriction on travelling currently, this Spring menu is a rejuvenating and welcomed change! After all, Spring is the season of rejuvenation.
