[FOOD REVIEW] NeNe Chicken Singapore’s New Fiery Sauces Will Make You Cry – Literally!

One of Korea’s popular fried chicken chains, NeNe Chicken, opened its first outlet on our shores in 2012. Ever since, it is well-loved by Singaporeans craving for their Korean fried chicken fix.

For spice-lovers, the ‘Freaking Hot Sauce’ especially is a hot favourite (no pun intended!), and the NeNe Chicken Headquarters in Korea are specially catering to this demand with the introduction of new sauces! Can you handle the heat of NeNe Chicken’s two latest additions to their arsenal of fiery hot sauces? 🔥

Double Freaking Hot Sauce
A step up from the ‘Freaking Hot Sauce’, the ‘Double Freaking Hot Sauce‘ (made from hot chilli peppers, ketchup, onion, garlic and sugar) is exclusive to Singapore outlets only. That’s right, it was specially made to challenge Singaporeans’ love for spice. To date, it is THE spiciest Korean sauce in NeNe Chicken!

From the moment it is served, the spice in the sauce immediately dominates one’s sense of smell. A word of warning; DO NOT underestimate this sauce. At the first bite, it may seem that it doesn’t live up to its name, but the word “freaking” is really an understatement. As you continue eating, you will find the burning sensation kicking in fiercely in your mouth, and those less tolerant to spice may be overwhelmed to tears! It is recommended to have plenty of water on hand, just in case. This sauce is definitely not for the faint-hearted.

Hot Bling Sauce
For those with lower spice tolerance, fear not! There is an alternative sauce just for you. The ‘Hot Bling Sauce’, with less chilli peppers, is definitely a lot more manageable for the taste buds. An enhanced version of the ‘Swicy Sauce’, the ‘Hot Bling Sauce’ has a sweet honey-like taste, but with more spiciness – perfect for those who would like a little more kick than the ‘Swicy Sauce’!

It also has a fragrant aroma, making it an enjoyable olfactory and gustatory experience. If you are still wary of the ‘Double Freaking Hot Sauce’, the ‘Hot Bling Sauce’ will be a great testing ground.

Both the ‘Double Freaking Hot Sauce’ and the ‘Hot Bling Sauce’ will be made available starting 15 May 2018 and will be part of the permanent menu, so no fear if you can’t get enough of the new sauces!

Both sauces are available with the usual menu. If you prefer boneless chicken, try the ‘Tenders’ 6pcs meal ($11.90; ala carte $8.90), while those who would like a variation can go for the ‘Wings and Sticks’ 4pcs meal ($10.50, ala carte $7.50). For those who would prefer a classic offering, the ‘2pcs Chicken’ meal ($9.90; ala carte $6.90) would be a great choice. If you are looking for something wholesome, try the ‘NeNe Signature’ or ‘Tangy Tomato Pasta’ Meal ($11.50). The sauces are also available on the side at $1.20 each!

NeNe Chicken will also be launching a new hotplate chicken featuring the ‘Double Freaking Hot Sauce’! Additionally, the new hotplate will feature a larger portion of cheese (to neutralise the extra spiciness of the sauce) with the option to add corn. We can’t wait to try that out too!
