[FOOD REVIEW] Celebrate Hari Raya With A NeNe Chicken Twist

NeNe Chicken will be celebrating Hari Raya this year with a special dish – the ‘Nene Ambeng’!

Based off the traditional Nasi Ambeng, which is a communal platter shared between 3-4 people, the NeNe Ambeng celebrates the long-valued practice of coming together with friends and families to break fast in the evening during Ramadan.

The dish consists of chicken, curly fries, some side dishes, and of course – what’s a ‘Nasi’ Ambeng without rice? It also comes with 2 dips – ‘Hot Bling’ and ‘Honey Mustard’ – so you can change up the taste of the chicken and fries whenever you like!

The boneless chicken is coated with the Swicy sauce, which has a sweet honey-like taste with a mild spiciness. The crispy wings and sticks were fragrant and the batter was light without being overwhelming. For spice lovers who would prefer a little more kick, you can pair it with the Hot Bling sauce, which is touted as an enhanced version of the Swicy sauce. Those who are more sensitive to spice can tone it down with the Honey Mustard sauce.

The savoury chicken stew served on the side was extremely rich and flavourful, and the other 2 side dishes of kimchi and corn salad offered a different taste profile of sour and sweet respectively. For the adventurous, you can also try dipping the crispy curly fries in the chicken stew for a whole new different taste!

The NeNe Ambeng is a definite ideal choice for big groups, and has something for everyone. Sweet, spicy, or even sour – this dish has got it covered! The generous portion also means that everyone will be walking away satisfied.

The NeNe Ambeng is available ala carte at $45.90, while the combo, which comes with 3 regular-sized Coca-Cola, is available at $49.90.

Thank you NeNe Chicken for inviting us to share in the culture of Hari Raya!
