[INDONESIA] iKON Takes Over Jakarta Once Again Through ‘FOUREVER’ Concert

The famous lyric, “iKON is coming to town!”, finally became a reality as the group returned to Jakarta on August 21 for their iKON ‘FOUREVER’ WORLD TOUR. Held in Istora Senayan, the two-and-a-half-hour show became a space for iKON and Indonesian iKONICs to reunite, have fun, and chit-chat like old friends.

Having not performed in the city for almost three years, iKON delivered wonderful performances right from the very start. Some of their greatest hits, such as BLING BLING, RHYTHM TA, and LOVE SCENARIO, were performed, taking fans down memory lane. Jay, Song, Bobby, and Chan performed as a four-member team, while DK and Ju-ne are currently serving their military duties.

Aside from performing as a full team, each member also showcased their own charms during the concert. The maknae, Chan, sang YOU while playing the piano for the first time in front of iKONICs. Shortly after, Jay serenaded the audience with Angel, then auramaxxed through OBEY. Bobby, on the other hand, hyped up the show with his unreleased track, Tropical Night. The solo segment was then closed by Song who cheerfully brought FIGHTING and It’s Call to the stage.

Throughout the concert, the members repeatedly used some Bahasa Indonesia phrases while communicating with the fans. “Mantul mantul”, which is the abbreviation of ‘mantap betul’ (very good), seemed like their absolute favourite, as they kept saying it to express their satisfaction. “Seru kan?” (It’s fun, right?), “Kamu yang terbaik!” (You are the best!), and “Mana suaranya?” (Make some noise!) were also heard from the members, showing that they were no strangers to Bahasa Indonesia.

At one point, Song made the whole venue scream after saying, “iKONICs itu my mine gueh!” (iKONICs are mine!), a famous expression commonly used by Indonesian youngsters. Chan also amazed the audience by saying “Gak mau pulang, maunya digoyang!” (Don’t want to go home, just want to dance!), a phrase often heard during concerts.

In between performing songs, Song admitted that despite wearing their in-ears, they could still hear iKONICs’ screams from how loud it was. Bobby joked that it felt like his face was getting smacked by the loud screams. “You guys can sing along and memorise all of our songs, Indonesia is the best!” Chan praised the crowd with two thumbs up and a big finger heart.

Near the end of the show, Song revealed that backstage, Jay needed to calm the members down because of how energised they were while performing. “Actually, when we are performing, we have to control our energy. Today we exceeded (the energy) because of your screams. We are too happy,” he admitted. The singer also thanked Indonesian iKONICs for always making iKON shine bright.

“Every time I come to Indonesia, I always feel loved. My heart is also touched by all the support. Hope iKON can give back all the love that we received from you,” Jay shared. He also said that it would be nice to be back with DK and Ju-ne, and he hoped iKONICs could stay healthy until then.
