[INDONESIA] A Night of Remarkable Performances at KEYLAND in Jakarta

Lil Freaks and Shawols (fandom name) were spoiled as KEY performed two hours of back-to-back hits at the KEYLAND in Jakarta which took place on July 20, 2024!

If you are within the K-Pop fandom, especially if you have been a long-time fan of the genre, then KEY is most likely no stranger to you. Debuted in 2008 as part of SHINee and embarked on a solo career in 2018, KEY is known as a versatile, charismatic, and bold performer, and this concert, his first solo one in Indonesia, proved exactly that!

The show started with the energetic Good & Great from his 2023 mini album, a truly apt description of KEY as an idol. It was followed by Saturday Night which had everyone bopping their heads as we spent our Saturday night with the multi-talented artist. The concert continued with a couple more tracks such as I Wanna Be (originally a duet with Jeon Soyeon of (G)-IDLE)), Easy to Love, and The Duty of Love.

Halo, piye kabare? Kumaha damang?” greeted KEY to the fans. Everyone in the audience was mesmerized by how much effort KEY put into connecting with his fans as he said hello in regional languages of Indonesia (‘piye kabare‘ and ‘kumaha damang‘ means “how are you” in Javanese and Sundanese). “This is my first solo concert in Indonesia. Thank you so much for coming and I hope you guys enjoy the show. I’m sure all of you would like to sing along and this is the right place because we’ll be singing a lot of songs, so keep up the energy!” he continued.

When explaining the concept of KEYLAND, he said that he chose a vending machine theme as the main theme where he will come out of the machine. “I also picked it because the songs and outfits in this concert had a nice variety to them, so please look forward to it,” said KEY. He also brought along a live band that he performed with in Korea to this show to enliven the ambiance.

After a short break which was used to introduce the band members, the stage was flooded with red lights and sharp visuals, showcasing a new chapter to the show. Shortly after, KEY emerged in a blue, white, and black racer-themed outfit performing the gritty Bad Love. Following that, he sang a rendition of the groovy and sexy Can’t Say Goodbye, CoolAs, Live Without You, and Killer. Each segment of the concert perfectly showcased how multifaceted KEY is as an artist.

One thing about KEY is that he has always been humble and grateful for everyone’s support. We can witness this by seeing him saying thank you and showing gratitude countless times to the translator, band members, dancers, staff and security, and of course, the fans. And the fans were not hesitant to give their love back! A special fan project was prepared where fans sang the first song Good & Great back to him while holding up banners, a testament to how dedicated they are to the idol and vice versa. Not only that, before the encore, fans repeatedly chanted “Kim Ki Bum, saranghae!” for four minutes straight. This encouraged the band members to start playing along with their respective instruments, creating a memorable show of its own!

Unfortunately, the extraordinary night must come to an end. KEY closed off the show with the beautiful G.O.A.T (Greatest Of All Time) and the flaming Gasoline during the encore. It was an astounding night filled with diverse performances, electrifying music, and exceptional visuals and concept, brought to you by the G.O.A.T himself. Earlier in the concert, KEY also mentioned that he is currently working on his next Korean album, so the fans should look forward to it!
