Just the day before, Stadium Malawati, Shah Alam was filled with bright red lights and a crowd of people wearing red clothes in conjunction with iKON’s CONTINUE TOUR. The next day, all signs of red were replaced with blue. WINNER brought with them a whole stadium of blue, from lights to headbands to posters to clothes.
On the 14th of October, WINNER made a stop in Kuala Lumpur for their first world tour, titled EVERYWHERE. The four boys, Yoon, Jinu, Hoony and Mino are famous for their music which touches genres such as alternative pop, EDM and R&B.
Performances that were full of energy
The members made their entrance with their debut title song ‘Empty’ and called up their fans with ‘Hello.’ INNER CIRCLEs jumped and literally stood up in their seats to dance to songs such as ‘Really Really’ and ‘Love Me Love Me.’ The crowd didn’t settle down, especially not when WINNER pulled out their other songs like ‘La La’ and their newest title track ‘Island.’ Their finale included a reprise of ‘Really Really’ as well as a remixed version of ‘Everyday.’
They even had an intimate set where they pulled out their ballads and slower songs such as ‘We Were’ and ‘Movie Star.’ During their performance of ‘Raining’ they used fascinating props such as holographic life size picture frames. WINNER also had the beautiful YG dancers as their back-up dancers for this concert.
Solo Stages
Malaysian INNER CIRCLEs were lucky enough to witness each member’s solo stage. They kicked off the solo stage set with Mino as he sent screams throughout the whole stadium from the start to the end of his performance. Bathed in pink light, the rapper sang his single ‘Body’ as well as his solo song, ‘Turn Off the Light.’ Jinu showered us with his beautiful voice during his rendition of G-dragon’s ‘Untitled 2014.’ It was such a powerful, yet soft performance, and he got the whole stadium to sing along.
Yoon came out and made some INNER CIRCLEs shed tears by performing his solo song ‘It Rains’ and a short verse of John Legend’s ‘All of Me.’ He then brought out a guitar and serenaded the crowd by singing Yoon Jong Shin’s ‘Instinctively.’ Lastly, Hoony came out with a lively performance of ‘Serenade’ followed by Taeyang’s ‘Ringa Linga.’ His energetic and sharp dance moves matched the song perfectly.
Showing their love for Malaysia
The members melted the hearts of the audience with every single thing they said. Yoon explained that they had just arrived yesterday and did not get to experience our Malaysian culture and atmosphere as much as they wanted to because there was no time. But, they did manage to feast on some Malaysian delicacies at the hotel by ordering room service. Yoon mentioned that they fell in love with the food, particularly nasi lemak, mee goreng and satay, to which Jinu got excited about. They then thanked Malaysian INNER CIRCLEs because now, they have a new special memory.
Fan Project
WINNER was extremely touched by the fan projects planned by the WINNER Malaysia Fan Union. At the gate, little rose lights were distributed to all the fans for the Rose Light project. Instructions were passed around to hold up the rose lights during the last two songs that WINNER would be performing, ‘Really Really’ and ‘Everyday (remix version).’ Mino was the first one to notice the rose lights and pointed it out to the other members. They were so touched by their INNER CIRCLEs that Yoon was teary-eyed.
Besides that, INNER CIRCLEs also sang the lyrics to ‘Movie Star’ while waiting for WINNER’s encore to give them support and energy.
Jinu said that it was really great to finally meet the Malaysian INNER CIRCLEs, and that we should look forward to their new music. Hoony said that because of our energy and support, he would promise to take care of himself until the end of the tour. Yoon said ‘A singer cannot exist if no one listens to their music,’ and proceeded to thank INNER CIRCLEs for their support while Mino hoped that we would give them the same energy the next time they come. INNER CIRCLEs and WINNER parted ways that night and left the stadium with new, happy memories.
