Emerging South Korean indie rock band SE SO NEON is coming to Manila this November 18!

There’s no doubt South Korea continues to exponentially dominate the music scene through their varying popular acts, flooding the mainstream with their infectious sound and dance moves the world has grown to love – and even obsess over. But aside from the well-known talents, the country is also in the midst of rolling out a new wave of sound particularly focused on going against the current.

And at the forefront of that wave is SE SO NEON.

Dubbed as the “new face of Korean indie rock” by Vice, SE SO NEON is conquering the soundscapes of this generation through their vintage, mellow rock and signature synthwave sound one ripple at a time.

Hailing from the light-studded city of Seoul, the band was formed around 2016. Current members are lead singer and guitarist, Hwang So Yoon, alongside Park Hyun Jin, the drummer. Together, they make music that fits the misfits.

They boast a total of nine musical releases — seven singles and two EPs. In 2018, the Korean Music Awards named them Rookie of the Year and awarded them the Best Rock Song for their track, The Wave (파도).

For SE SO NEON, the youths of today are the center of their music. Their 2017 EP Summer Plumage 여름깃 strums out a dream-pop story of juvenile romance operating under a sun-drenched sky. While the following 2020 EP, lauded by Pitchfork and Paste Magazine as one the best rock albums of the year, Nonadaptation 비적응, echoes the desire to break out from toxic traditions and to find peace in your chosen path.
