[FEATURE] THE BOYZ AS NOTABLE COVER KINGS

THE BOYZ is an 11-member South Korea idol group from Cre.Ker Entertainment. Made up of members Sangyeon, Jacob, Younghoon, Hyunjae, Juyeon, Kevin, New, Q, Haknyeon, Sunwoo and Eric, THE BOYZ officially made their debut on December 6, 2017. Member Hwall left the team on October 22, 2019 due to health reasons.

THE BOYZ emerged as champions on MNET‘s reality TV show ‘Road to Kingdom’. After weeks of intense performances by the participating groups, THE BOYZ proved their worth through innovative stages. It was impressive to see them strategically make full use of various camera angles and choreography formations to utilise the stage platforms as they exude strong stage presence.

With their increased popularity, THE BOYZ are now the talk of the town as fans are rediscovering their cover stages from a few years back. Some of these include BTS ‘Fire’, Super Junior ‘Sorry, Sorry’ and Girls’ Generation ‘The Boys’!

THE BOYZ – TWICE ‘What Is Love?’ [MCountdown in Taipei 2018]

What impresses us most about this cover stage is there are simply no gimmicks. They kept as close as they could to the original while entertaining fans and proving they have what it takes to perfectly cover a girl group song with much admiration.

THE BOYZ – BTS ‘Boy In Luv’ [DMC Festival 2018]

A powerful cover stage for a passionate rookie just slightly under a year after their debut. They showcased their intense presence as though sending the message “we’re here to stay” with their captivating performance.

THE BOYZ – Girls Generation ‘The Boys’ & GOT7 ‘Hard Carry’ [KCON Thailand 2018]

This is definitely one of our favourites not only because of the clever word play of ‘THE BOYZ’ covering ‘The Boys’ but also at how amazing they covered a song from the nation’s girl group. The contrasting power they showed towards the end was also a great surprise for fans.

THE BOYZ – Super Junior ‘Sorry, Sorry’ [Music Bank 2019]

An iconic, almost compulsory cover stage for majority of K-pop groups! THE BOYZ definitely proved their synchronisation prowess through this performance. No matter how many groups have covered this song before them, no one did it like THE BOYZ as they performed side by side with Super Junior member Eunhyuk.

THE BOYZ – EXO ‘Call Me Baby’ [MCountdown Special Stage 2019]

It definitely takes skills to nail EXO’s songs but nothing is impossible for THE BOYZ. This cover proved just how equally talented they are as they kept it real to as close as the original version, hitting every note and dance move with excellence.

THE BOYZ – TVXQ ‘Rising Sun’ [KCON Japan 2019]

The amount of power THE BOYZ gave for this particular performance blew our minds! Imagine just how much more iconic it would be if they had performed the entire song? Performance aside, they definitely stole the hearts of non-fans covering a legendary song from one of the biggest K-pop male idol groups in Japan! The expressions from the audience says it all.

THE BOYZ – BTS ‘Fire’ [KCON New York 2019]

One of the best cover stages we have seen for BTS ‘Fire’ and it is no surprise coming from THE BOYZ. They certainly did justice to the biggest K-pop idol group and managed to hype up the crowd with pure talent and enthusiasm as they burned the stage.

THE BOYZ – TVXQ ‘Mirotic’ [MCountdown Special Stage 2020]

No other words needed except perfection. Everything from beginning to end was executed to a T with just the right amount of sexiness and a mixture of sultry dance moves and vocals skills. Also, the birth of Juyeon’s legendary fancam was from this exact performance!

Now that we have a list, let us know which is your favourite cover stage by THE BOYZ in the comment section below! 🙂

THE BOYZ recently made their comeback with their EP ‘Chase’ and title track ‘The Stealer’, earning a total of four music show wins, proving their successful release. Dubbed as ‘Trendy Idols’ these days due to their increased recognition, we look forward to more exciting stages by THE BOYZ!
