South Korea’s power boy group Wanna One made a return to Singapore 10 months after their first fan-meeting in Singapore last September for their world tour, ‘ONE: THE WORLD’. Following the success of a sold out 3-day concert in South Korea, the 11 boys, Yoon Jisung, Ha Sungwoon, Hwang Minhyun, Ong Seongwoo, Kim Jaehwan, Kang Daniel, Park Jihoon, Park Woojin, Bae Jinyoung, Lee Daehwi and Lai Guanlin returned with a one-night only sold out concert at the Singapore Indoor Stadium with 10,000 concert-goers.
The concert started off with ‘Burn It Up’ from Wanna One’s debut album and continued with a crowd-favourite ‘Never’, a song composed for the reality survival programme which created the boy group, ‘Produce 101 Season 2’. The boys were seemingly ‘Energetic’ as they excited the crowd with their power vocals and sleek dance moves. Wanna One also showcased their own talents and skills with their unit performances of their own songs, and we were extremely blown away watching them perform in front of our eyes. Jisung even showed us his deejay-ing skills!
As Wanna One progressed into the night with more performances, the audience was extremely heated and were so passionate that leader Jisung had to caution everyone that it would be dangerous if they kept pushing, and sweetly asked for fans in the standing pit to move back by one step. The boys also showed us some of their aegyo and how they would react to some of the scenarios they posed for each other. For example, Daniel posed a scenario to give a reaction if Wanna One made their girlfriends angry, and Seongwoo gave a pout and adorably said “I’m sorry”. The crowd swooned at his puppy eyes and pout, we are sure Seongwoo would definitely be forgiven!
Wanna One continued to charm as they performed more songs, such as their classic EDM-pop ballad ‘Beautiful’ and ‘I Wanna Have’. Wannables even sang along to ‘Produce 101 Season 2’s’ finale song ‘Always’ as well as Heize’s lines in Seongwoo and Daehwi‘s ‘Hourglass’ (original by Seongwoo and Daehwi ft. Heize), and received compliments from Jihoon that Wannables were better at singing than the boys themselves.
As the concert drew to a close, the boys promised that they will definitely return again, and we know they will as they have been confirmed to be included in the line-up for Hallyu Pop Fest in September. Jaehwan was thankful for the energy that they received and said that he would be able to sleep well, and Sungwoon expressed his gratitude to the fans for always staying by their side, and that he will always work hard so that he can continue to perform on stage. Jinyoung promised to stick together with fans for the rest of their lives as Jihoon did his famous ‘jeojang’ sign. Last but not least, Chinese member Guanlin ended off with his speech in Mandarin and English that Singapore is an extremely beautiful city and will be back again in no time.
Wanna One promised that they will never forget the times they spent together from the very first time they debuted until now, and will always miss and love Singapore Wannables. They concert ended off with ‘I Promise You’ as Wannables sang along and did fanchants at the top of their lungs, a special song that promised even after time passes, Wanna One and Wannables will never forget their beginnings.
We would like to extend our gratitude to One Production for the invite to the concert, and to Wanna One for giving Singapore Wannables and us a memorable night – we promise we will never forget how we felt!
