[SINGAPORE] TWICE Shine Brighter Than Ever With ‘TWICELIGHTS’ World Tour

Nine-piece girl group TWICE was down to eight at the Singapore stop of their world tour on 13 July, but that did not stop them from putting on an enjoyable show for ONCEs here. Jihyo, Nayeon, Jeongyeon, Momo, Sana, Dahyun, Chaeyoung and Tzuyu sang and danced to hit songs after hit songs to a highly enthusiastic crowd of 10,000 ONCE, who cheered non-stop for the girls! Despite the absence of Japanese member Mina, TWICE made all the efforts to make sure that ONCE who were present at the Singapore Indoor Stadium had a wonderful night!

The stadium hall was buzzing with excitement even before the concert officially started and by the time the opening VCR played, ONCE were cheering for TWICE super loudly! The screams and cheers grew even louder the moment the eight girls stood on stage to open the concert with “Stuck In My Head”, “Cheer Up” and “Touchdown”.

The concert was filled with many fan favourites and the group’s biggest hits such as the recent comeback title “Fancy”, summery “Dance The Night Away”, cheerful and upbeat “Yes or Yes” and even a special remix version of “Heartshaker” which was originally bubblegum pop with TWICE’s signature sound. The fan-chants to all the songs were loud and clear, a sure sign that ONCE spent all the effort to make TWICE feel the love they have for the girls!

TWICE also showed off their versatile talents by performing in unit stages! Sana, Dahyun and Tzuyu showed off a more mature and sexy performance with their dance cover of Beyonce’s “Dance For You”; Jihyo and Momo showcased their chemistry by singing and dancing to Taemin’s “Goodbye” while Nayeon, Jeongyeon and Chaeyoung dazzled onstage as they danced to Lady Gaga’s “Born This Way”. These unit stages were a chance for TWICE to show different sides of them to ONCE besides their usual upbeat and colourful pop ditties that they are famous for.

One of the most memorable moments of the concert was when fans switched on their mobile phone torchlights during “You In My Heart” and changed the colour of their Candybong Zs to mint green; Mina’s representative colour. This was to display their support to Mina who could not attend the rest of their world tour due to extreme anxiety from performing on-stage. The sight was a beautiful and touching display of the fan–idol relationship between TWICE and their fandom, ONCE.

Another touching moment was the fan-project VCR that Singapore ONCE made specially for TWICE. The girls were visibly moved to tears after viewing the VCR and fans urged them not to cry. TWICE then expressed their gratitude towards ONCE for all the support and love they have received from ONCE thus far throughout their journey as one of South Korea’s most-loved girl groups since making their debut in 2015. They also took the opportunity to mention that they all miss Mina and promised to return to Singapore as nine members again in the future.

With TWICE showing no signs of slowing down for this year and the next, we sure hope that this top girl group will visit us again really soon in Singapore!
