[SINGAPORE] Taemin Enthralls Fans At Solo Concert Ephemeral Gaze

Eight months after his last appearance in Singapore, Taemin made his long-awaited return with his solo concert ‘Ephemeral Gaze’. Despite the rainy weather, there was no dampening of spirits for Shawols and Taemmates at the Singapore EXPO, brimming with excitement to witness Taemin’s first world tour.

Here are three key highlights from the concert that The Seoul Story Team enjoyed.

1. A Memory Lane into Taemin’s World

The concert kicked off with an electrifying performance of Deja Vu, setting the tone for the night. This was followed by powerful title tracks Guilty and Advice, where he showed off his commanding stage presence.

Reflecting on the journey that led him to this moment, Taemin shared that he prepared for this concert for a long time because he wanted to meet everyone in his best self. And the concert delivered exactly that. Ephemeral Gaze felt like a strong culmination of his decades of experience, both in SHINee and as a solo artist.

While he was joined by his dancers for the first section, he took the stage alone for Goodbye, showing both his strong vocals and artistic choreography. This was followed by Idea and Gaze from his critically acclaimed third album Never Gonna Dance Again. For both old and new Kpop fans alike, this section brought us down a memory lane of Taemin’s best hits.

2. Strong Solo Performances

Since his solo debut 10 years ago, Taemin has established himself as an all-rounder. The second section highlighted Taemin’s sweet vocals. Dressed in a light blue sequinned jacket reminiscent of SHINee’s representative colour, he covered ballads like The Unknown Sea, I’m Crying and Clockwork. During The Unknown Sea, the audience sang and shined their phone flashlights along, creating a poignant moment to remember.

The following segment was another continuation of his greatest hits. Under flashing strobe lights, Taemin brought the venue to life with the strong beats of G.O.A.T and The RizznessNo Taemin concert is complete without Move. Like the lyrics go, “Under the dark lights, starting again is a move”, the arena lights were dimmed during the chorus, focusing on Taemin’s sensual moves.

An inside joke among Shawols is that Taemin is the only idol who has debuted in the second, third and fourth generation because of SHINee, his solo and Super M. Through his stages, Taemin truly represented the synergy of KPOP, with a talent and passion like no other.

3. Heartwarming Moments with Fans

One of the most intimate moments of the concert came when Taemin interacted directly with the fans, asking them to request songs they wanted to hear. He sang short snippets of fan favourites like Sexuality and Black Rose. Singapore fans were also eager to hear his 2016 hit Press Your Number, gesturing to him with phone signs.

“Don’t call…me?” Despite the initial confusion, Taemin delighted the crowd by dancing and singing along to an acoustic version of Press Your Number.

During the photo taking segment, fans also surprised Taemin with a fan VCR, which contained their sincere messages for him. Many messages expressed gratitude for Taemin choosing Singapore as one of the stops for the tour, and wished for him to be healthy and happy.

“There may be a time where I may not be able to perform like I do now, but let’s grow older together and through that, it will be as meaningful too”, Taemin was visibly touched by this project, expressing his sentiment for the fans who have watched him mature as an artist. Within the crowd, there were many fans who brought their kids along, which showed how important Taemin was, and is, as part of their lives.

“Chili crab, pepper crab—I don’t need that. I just need you.” Ending the concert on a high, Taemin brought his backup dancers back on stage with Danger and Crush.

A Night to Remember

Taemin’s first solo concert in Singapore was a night of incredible performances, emotional connections, and unforgettable memories. Whether it was heart-wrenching ballads or powerful, high-energy tracks, Taemin proved that he is not just a performer—but an artist deeply connected to his music and his fans.

Thank you iMe Singapore for the opportunity to attend the concert, and we can’t wait for the next one!
