[SINGAPORE] Singapore MY DAYs Gravitate Willingly Towards DAY6

Vocals, musical talent, visuals, humour – you name it, DAY6 has it. After three long years since the band’s ‘DAYDREAM’ fan-meeting in Singapore, DAY6 finally returned to Singapore for a 2.5 hour long concert with Singapore MY DAYs at The Star Performing Arts Centre. The five-piece boyband comprising guitarists Jae and Sungjin, bassist YoungK, keyboardist Wonpil and drummer Dowoon were delighted to be back in Singapore and let themselves loose, creating a beautiful memory with Singapore MY DAYs.

The concert started off with the five boys walking onto stage and picking up their musical instruments, as they started jamming and singing to ‘Best Part’. Jae even asked for everyone to get on their feet and enjoy themselves, as everyone has been waiting for a long time. The crowd promptly stood up, jumping and raving excitedly. He promised that everyone would be in store for a beautiful night, as they performed several b-side tracks from their previous albums before moving on to their latest title track, ‘Time of Our Life’.

DAY6 did their introductions and while it was comfortable knowing that Jae and YoungK spoke fluent English, it was extremely endearing to see the rest of the members going the extra mile to communicate with Singapore MY DAYs in English. Wonpil expressed his happiness at how everyone took their time out in the evening to spend time together with them, and hoped that at the end of the concert, everyone would go back with only good memories.

Before moving on to ‘So Cool’, Jae assured everyone that just as how everyone had been waiting for them to return, the band was just as elated and thankful that they had the opportunity to perform in Singapore again. Guaranteeing a night of awesome line-up, he encouraged MY DAYs to let out their stress, “Jump and go crazy, it doesn’t matter if the person next to you thinks you’re nuts because you’re having fun. You are not alone because we are looking dumb and stupid having fun on stage too”.

Next, DAY6 performed songs from their latest album ‘The Book of Us: Gravity”, ‘How to Love’, ‘For Me’ and ‘Wanna Go Back’, with members Sungjin, YoungK, Wonpil and Dowoon showcasing their solo stages. High notes were accurately hit and the booming bass made everyone in the audience craving for more, as the band proceeded with remixes of their songs and popular pop songs ‘Like That Sun x Shape of You’, ‘Days Gone By x Treasure’ and ‘Blood x Get Lucky’!

Not forgetting their beginnings and knowing that Singapore MY DAYs requested for it, Jae promised that the band would perform songs from their earlier days, ‘Colours’, ‘I Need Somebody’ and ‘I Wait’. The fan-chants were at an all-time loud as fans were thrilled to hear the songs that made them fall in love with the band.

Member Jae also had the chance to showcase his strumming during his solo performance after ‘Headache’, after which they played songs contrasting to the usual genre of rock and themes of love, exploring the themes of angst in ‘Warning!’ and ‘Shoot Me’. DAY6 then headed backstage for a break as a short VCR was played, expressing their endless gratitude towards MY DAYs for always being with them through thick and thin. It was an emotional segment as DAY6 reappeared to perform their all-time classics, ‘Cover’, ‘You Were Beautiful’ and ‘Congratulations’.

No concert would be complete without a fan-project event, and Singapore MY DAYs did not disappoint as they touched DAY6 with a video and sang to ‘Beautiful Feeling’, raising a banner that said they would go on with DAY6 till the end.

It was especially touching as YoungK said that MY DAYs are his motivation, his inspiration, and the reason why he sings, write songs, and the reason he goes on. While they are always on the receiving end of lots of love, with many people telling them that they are doing well, he hopes that everyone knows that they too, are doing well, and deserve to be happy. While the words from them are not enough compared to what they have received, they wish that MY DAYs are always happy, eating well and staying healthy.

While Sungjin, Wonpil and Dowoon were more fluent in Korean, they put across their happiness and said that Singapore MY DAYs touched their hearts, and will return to Singapore once again as a band that their fans can be proud of. Finally, Jae smiled from ear to ear as he said that the night could not have been more perfect, and thanked everyone for sharing the same energy as them, making a promise to return, and would not make MY DAYs wait for long.

The night ended on a high with ‘Dance Dance’ and ‘Freely’. The concert was truly enjoyable and an experience we would never forget, as DAY6 indeed proved themselves worthy to be crowned ‘Best Band’.
