This year, the prestigious Asian Television Awards celebrated its 20th anniversary with a massive celebration! The 2-day award show is Asian TV industry’s most significant and celebrated event, recognising excellence in programming, production and performance. Accolades were handed out at Suntec Singapore and the crowd cheered for all the winners and artistes who put on congratulatory performances throughout the evening.

For the first time in the Awards’ 20-year history, the star-studded event was open to the public, with the 3,000-strong crowd joining industry luminaries and celebrities on 3 December. Artists Joanne Peh, Pierre Png, Felicia Chin, Chen Hanwei as well as the stars of ‘Ah Boys To Men’, Tosh Zhang and Wang Wei Liang were in attendance, and international artists such as Swedish boy band JTR, Indonesian singer Anggun, and South Korea’s leading K-Pop girl group, Secret, put up amazing performances for both the live audience and viewers at home that evening.

The show started off with the Red Carpet, and the 4 goddesses of Secret made a quick appearance in gorgeous pink and gold outfits. That evening, Korean TV productions like tvN’s ‘Misaeng’, ‘The Genius’ and MBC TV’s ‘Spinster Diaries’ all headed home with an award this year. It probably isn’t an understatement to say that girl group Secret was one of the main highlights of the evening. The group was up as the closing act and the girls brought the house down with their hit songs, I’m in Love’ and ‘Love is MOVE’. Secret’s rapper Hana also expressed her delight and stated that it was an honour for them to be attending the 20th Asian Television Awards here in Singapore. With flashy dance moves and catchy song lyrics, the crowd danced and sang along with Secret before the last few awards were all handed out.

With that, the three hour ceremony came to an end with fans of Secret, SECRETTIMEs, feeling contented and star-struck. Although Secret had only performed two songs this time round, we really hope to see the girls back in Singapore again. The Awards definitely lived up to the hype and ended on a high note, honouring the best of Asian talent and showcasing world-class performances at the same time.
