[SINGAPORE] NMIXX Prove They Are The Group To Watch With ‘NICE TO MIXX YOU’

JYP Entertainment’s latest girl group NMIXX has a tough line of legendary acts to follow, but they proved they have what it takes to carry the crown during the Singapore stop of their Nice to Mixx You Showcase Tour. The sextet, made up of members Lily, Haewon, Sullyoon, Bae, Jiwoo, and Kyujin, performed at The Star Theatre on June 23, 2023 ahead of their upcoming comeback A Midsummer NMIXX’s Dream.

NMIXX debuted in 2022 to hot competition but differentiated themselves from the rest with their complex music and advanced skills. Here are four ways NMIXX proved they are the fourth-generation K-pop girl group to watch!

Their Powerful Vocal Talent

NMIXX is home to the fourth generation of K-pop’s best vocalists. During the showcase, the girls sang live with little to no backing track, presenting the audience with their raw live vocals. Despite only debuting a year ago, they blew us away with their stability and resonance.

The girls also did a special performance of the ballad Miss You 3000 from the official soundtrack of the Taiwanese drama Someday or One Day. Although most people know about Lily’s powerhouse vocals, each member got to show off their abilities and even pull off complicated harmonies. From Jiwoo’s unique tone to Sullyoon’s light and airy voice, NMIXX has a gorgeous range of vocals that captivated us.

Their Strong Dance Skills

Not only can NMIXX sing, but they can also do it while executing extremely challenging choreography. Artists from JYP Entertainment are known for their bone-crushing, gravity-defying choreographies, and NMIXX is no exception.

The showcase’s opening track Tank has an especially intense routine, and the audience was dazzled by their fiery dance moves, smooth formation changes, and perfect synchronisation. It is no surprise since NMIXX also released a series of stage practice videos for songs such as Love Me Like This, demonstrating their polished dance skills alongside their vocal prowess.

Their Ability to Pull Off Any Song

Not everyone can pull off the experimental music that JYP Entertainment has given NMIXX, but the girls own every comeback and song. On the stage, their eccentric sound from tracks like O.O and DICE actually made them immediately recognisable and helped create a powerful show.

At the showcase, NMIXX also showed off their versatility by covering songs of various concepts and genres, such as David Guetta’s electro-house hit Hey Mama – complete with Nicki Minaj’s iconic rap – and TWICE’s candy pop track TT, performing a seamless transition from fierce to cute. Whether they’re reckless youths in Young Dumb Stupid or melancholic girls in COOL (Your Rainbow), NMIXX can do it all.

Their Humble and Funny Personalities

NMIXX is also known among their fans NSWERs for being a humorous and fun-loving group, and we caught a glimpse of their personalities during the showcase’s sitcom-esque VCR and fan talk segments. Lily led the audience interactions since English is her first language, but all the members prepared witty speeches that captured the audience’s hearts.

Despite their immense talent and growing success, the girls also continue to be humble and appreciative of their fans’ support. After fans joked that Park Jin Young or JYP was the password to NMIXX’s heart, Kyujin clarified that the password to their heart was NSWERs!

“I think [PAXXWORD] is the perfect song for this moment because it feels like a miracle to be with you right now,” Bae said in English during the showcase, drawing a loud ‘aww’ from the audience.

The girls also had an emotional moment as they watched a heartfelt video of Singapore NSWERs’ wishes and support for the members.

“Thank you for all of your love and support from far away and I always want to see you all up close like this,” Haewon shared as fans cheered.

NMIXX’s down-to-earth and quirky personalities, coupled with their amazing skills and versatility, is truly what makes them special. Like NMIXX say, don’t avoid their big wave. With their insane combination of talent, wit, and hard work, we think it is only a matter of time before they take over the world.
