More than 20,000 festival-goers were treated to a fabulous spectacle at the Skechers Sundown Festival held at Siloso Beach, Sentosa! Spanning over 3 days from April 19th — 21st, the festival featured over 50 acts from all over the region, on 3 stages: EDEN, NIRVANA, and UTOPIA. For the second day, the NIRVANA stage was headlined by Korean hip hop and rap powerhouse, MFBTY along with Chinese hip-hop group Higher Brothers.
Back for their second visit to Singapore, MFBTY prepared a setlist full of energetic hits to hype up the crowd! The crowd went fanatical as MFBTY burst onto the stage with “Mantra”. The classic yet musically bold hip hop track set the crowd bouncing and jamming to Tiger JK and Bizzy’s raps. The trio was clearly dressed to “PARTY” the night out as they burst onto the stage in beachwear, with Yoon Mirae glamping it out in casual yet classic denim.
MFBTY then addressed the roaring crowd, with their fervent intention to make the evening unforgettable for all their loyal fans. In order to do that, Yoon Mirae told the crowd that they would minimize the talking and just rock out with the fans with songs that they had prepared.
During the ment, Tiger JK declared that they came in peace with a message of love, before they resumed the set with “Angel”. The crowd was mesmerized by Yoon Mirae’s melodic voice, Bizzy and Tiger JK’s energetic rap renditions. Bizzy then took center stage to perform “Bam”, a soulful yet upbeat rap track from his first album, Bizzionary, and urged the crowd to echo out the chorus.
Just as the crowd was getting all comfortable and jazzed up, Tiger JK then led the audience into clapping a beat as a prelude to their next song, “Sweet Dream”. The crowd went bonkers with the trio’s truly electric renditions of the rap verses!
Just as quickly as they tore into Sweet Dream, MFBTY ushered in their Feel Ghood Music maknae, Bi Bi, to perform alongside them. Starting with “Cute Lil Thug”, a catchy and upbeat tune co-performed with Yoon Mirae. Bi Bi got the crowd hyping to chants of “Give me that! Give me that!”. The MFBTY trio then had a friendly mini-competition to see who could hype up the crowd more with a recital of “크게 소리질러 (Shout louder)”, from the next song, Yoon Mirae’s “Pay Day”. In between the rap segments, Yoon Mirae and Tiger JK even took turns to spray the crowd with water guns!
The quartet then jammed to Yoon Mirae’s Black Happiness, a single from year 2007 that was particularly powerful and poignant to her, and had a message for the audience to be strong and hold onto one’s self-love. The highlight of the night was definitely when Tiger JK jumped off stage to give out bottled water and had quick chats with his fans at stage side, as Yoon Mirae smoothly belted out the rap of “Party in the Bu”. MFBTY rounded up the set with two explosive and adrenaline-inducing hits, “Monster” and “Get It In”, bringing the show to a satisfying crash and bang.
Even as their set concluded, MFBTY continued to display their endless love for their fans as Bizzy jumped off stage to give out T-shirts, and Tiger JK passed albums out to their fans. Talk about the love the trio has for their fans, I guess this is why MFBTY – My Fans Are Better Than Yours, is the most apt way to describe their relationship!
We would like to thank Skechers Sundown Festival for the media invite!
