Riding on the Hallyu wave, Korea Tourism Organisation (KTO) brought back its highly popular Korea Travel Fair this year! Held at the main atrium of Plaza Singapura, it was a pleasant mix of booths that showcased the best highlights of Korea for the year ahead.
Instead of the usual Seoul, Busan or Jeju, the Korean Ambassador of Singapore, Mr Lee Sang Deok introduced the beautiful city of Pyeongchang. From immersing yourself in traditional folk culture, to indulging your inner fangirl in the various drama filming locations, Pyeongchang has just the right places to hit those sweet spots. Of course, for sports enthusiasts, Pyeongchang is home of the 2018 Winter Olympics. Photo opportunities were also available with the cute Pyeongchang Winter Olympics mascots Soohorang and Bandabi!
Interactive Activities and Food Galore!
Foodies were treated to a large array of Korean food and beverages available for sale at the fair. Live cooking demonstrations were also conducted for budding master chefs to pick up tips from the experts!
For a holistic approach, there was also a feast for the eyes. Jeongdong Theatre treated all culture buffs to a graceful traditional dance ‘Lotus’. Next up was internationally recognised b-boy group ‘Drifterz Crew’ that wow-ed the crowd with heart-stopping acrobatic dance routines. It’s no wonder that they have an impressive number of international dance competition trophies to show off!
Star Struck!
Of course, for many, the main highlight of the travel fair was a meet-and-greet session with main leads of hit drama ‘Strong Woman Do Bong Soon’; Park Hyung Sik and Park Bo Young. Fans of all ages crowded Plaza Singapura just to catch a glimpse of their favourite Min Min and Bong Bong on stage. They shared interesting behind the scenes stories while filming and also a list of places that they love to visit when in Korea. Some lucky fans had a chance to get up close during a meet and greet session with the stars and also brought home a ‘Cat-Panda’ plushie that was featured in the drama.
Both actors also shared that they have no upcoming plans for now and will take this chance to rest after the successful broadcast of the drama.
We would like to thank Korea Tourism Organisation for allowing us media coverage of this event 🙂
