[SINGAPORE] Kevin Woo’s Birthday Fan-Meet Showcases Why We Are Not Over Him After A Decade

It has been six years since Kevin Woo last stepped foot in the sunny island of Singapore and he returned with an intimate fan-meet on the same day of his arrival. Admitting only 70 lucky KLOVERS on a first-come-first-served basis, the fan-meet was held at the charming Boufe Boutique Café on 9th November to celebrate his upcoming birthday.

With over a decade of industry experience under his belt, the K-pop veteran’s meet-up was warmly patronised by fans that spanned a range of ages. Eagerly queueing since the early morning, their dedicated wait on a Saturday was worth it as soon as doors opened.

KLOVERS were greeted with a beautifully decorated café that donned flowers of pink and purple hues. The fairy tale-esque ambience of the café was accentuated when Kevin entered with his signature eye-smile and friendly waves. The fan-meet officially began with a series of questions for KLOVERS to catch up with Kevin, who has went on to be a successful soloist since his last visit.

Keeping Up With Kevin Woo
Hosted by his sister-cum-manager Deanna Woo, the segment started off with Kevin sharing what he missed about Singapore, which was the delicious chili and pepper crab. He is also excited to try Hainanese Chicken Rice, but when a KLOVER asked if he would try out durian, it was a vehement “no!” He also lets us in on little projects he is currently working on, such as an upcoming Singapore vlog and a Korean show appearance in the near future. Aside from working tirelessly on music, his recent hobbies now include cooking, which he has been practising whilst in Japan, and unexpectedly, golf!

The fan Q&A segment was a trove of interesting and lighthearted questions, such as what music he likes to play when working out (EDM, especially Martin Garrix, DJ Snake and The Chainsmokers) and his latest Netflix favourites (Living Alone and The Good Place). A KLOVER even asked him for numbers to buy lottery tickets with, which drew laughter from the crowd and Kevin. He humorously offered “1 7 3 8” to the fan, stating that “1” is a number he likes and “7” is his lucky number.

This segment felt like a comfortable conversation between friends, and KLOVERS got to reminisce Kevin’s U-KISS days with him while also learning more about his recent musical endeavours. His most recent collaborations include “Over You” with Hollaphonic, a pop sound perfect for the constant Singaporean summer, and the catchy track “Falling” that he worked on with his best friend, James Lee.

A Test of Telepathic Bond

The next segment was a mini-game session for fans to win exclusive Kevin Woo polaroid and merchandise. Starting off was a telepathic game of chance, and the ones who picked the same number as Kevin would be the lucky KLOVERS of the day. The room was positively buzzing with excitement and suspense as this went on until all four winners claimed polaroid photos, which Kevin personally signed for them.

The remaining prize was a T-shirt from Kevin’s latest merchandise collection, No Cross No Crown. This time, fans had to answer what Kevin’s debut song was, which one KLOVER answered swiftly — In Your Hands from his XING days. Kevin also kindly signed the shirt before passing it on. You can catch snippets of the fun-filled interactions between KLOVERS and Kevin on Twitter.

A Surprise From KLOVERS
While the games were happening, Boufe staff and KLOVERs were preparing a surprise cake, complete with a fondant crown, for him at the back. This was brought out right after the games segment, and from the huge smile that Kevin flashed, we are certain he was touched by their efforts.

Lasting Memories with Kevin
Concluding the short but intimately sweet fan-meet, Kevin left a heartfelt message for KLOVERS, promising to come back to Singapore when he has the chance to again. He even adds that he wants to keep doing music and “can’t wait to spend the rest of his life with KLOVERS until he’s 80”.

Then came the highlight of the event — having a personal photo taken with Kevin Woo himself! This was definitely the perfect way to end off a tight-knit celebration, and we are glad that Kevin and KLOVERS had the opportunity to share a special personal moment with him.

Despite being a little under the weather, we were touched by Kevin’s warmth and energy during the fan-meet. Although his primary reason for flying over to Singapore was to attend a private ceremony for Hit Maker Academy, where he will be an educator, he still squeezed in time to meet his KLOVERS. The kindness and uplifting energy Kevin had with his fans not only showcased the strong bonds between KLOVERS and him, but also affirmed why we are definitely not over Kevin even after 13 years.

We will be releasing an exclusive video of Kevin reacting his very early K-pop days, so stay tuned! (Spoiler alert: He cringed a lot, but still remembers the iconic moves to his early days!)
