Yesterday, GOT7 (JB, Mark, Junior, Jackson, Youngjae, Bambam, Yugyeom) arrived in town for the final Asian stop of their ‘FLY’ tour! As part of promotions for mini album ‘Flight Log: Departure‘, the group embarked on their first worldwide concert series that kicked off in Seoul earlier this year. After playing to thousands in China, Japan and Thailand last month, the talented and dynamic band finally landed on the sunny shores of Singapore. First up on the agenda: an open press conference at City Square Mall, where fans could catch a glimpse of the boys as they answered questions from the media.
Judging by the sheer number of fans present at the event, GOT7’s popularity has certainly grown remarkably over the past year. Enthusiastic IGOT7s assembled near the barricades from as early as 4am in the morning – just to secure a prime viewing spot near the stage. By the time the boys finally arrived around 7pm, the packed atrium felt like a sauna. Yet, the heat did nothing to diminish the fans’ excitement, as GOT7 appeared on stage to a rapturous ovation and ear-splitting cheers from the crowd.
After the members settled down in their seats, they proceeded to introduce themselves in English. Leader JB assured fans that they could look forward to many more surprises during their concert today. Thai member BamBam then revealed that not only did he look forward to meeting the fans tonight in Singapore; a vacation right here on our sunny island would be more than ideal as well.
The media conference quickly segued into Q&A time with members of the press, and the first question was related to how the boys felt about this being the last leg of their ‘FLY’ tour in Asia. Member Youngjae emphasized that while they were really pleased to be back here for the third time, the boys hope to communicate to a greater extent with the fans this time.
Next up, energizer bunny of the group Jackson answered a question about how the boys get along so well with each other. He stated that the boys are like a close-knit family, so there is definitely no problem when it comes to adapting and getting along with each other.
The highlight of the night came courtesy of youngest member Yugyeom, much to the delight of the screaming fans. In response to his fellow band mates’ teasing about his recent liking for R&B music, he gamely gave the crowd a spontaneous, sweet rendition of Chris Brown’s ‘No Bullshit’! If this did not manage to compensate for the long wait for the boys’ arrival, we are pretty sure it did at least leave more than a few fans enamoured by Yugyeom’s lovely singing.
To end off the press conference, the members stood up and waved to the crowd one last time before BamBam cheekily ‘dabbed’ his way off stage, giving rise to deafening cheers and hollers from the crowd as the rest of the members took their leave as well.
GOT7 will perform at the Suntec Singapore Convention & Exhibition Centre at 8pm on Friday 24 June. For last-minute tickets, visit www.apactix.com. We would like to extend our gratitude to One Production for providing us with media accreditation to this event 🙂
