A talented and well-rounded individual, Jeong Eun Ji is not only known as a member of girl-group APink, but also a soloist that possesses crystal clear vocals that enthralls many. On the 9th of June, Singapore Pandas flocked down to Zepp@BigBox, awaiting for the vocalist to start her concert titled ‘HyeHwa暳花’. This marks Eun Ji’s first solo concert in our tiny island and her fans were fervently waiting for her to perform songs off, ‘Hyehwa’, her third mini album.
With the acoustics from the live band, Eun Ji kicked off the concert with her first song of the night, ‘Hopefully Sky’, followed by ‘The Spring’ and ‘It’s Ok’. Introducing herself in English, Pandas were impressed with her ability to speak in English. Eun Ji shared that she was taking English lessons prior to her concert in Singapore. The singer then requested for fans to share on their SNS accounts that “Eun Ji is very good at English”. Eun Ji also shared that her concert tour did not initially include the Singapore stop, but added it when there were many requests from fans. Thanks to those Pandas, other Singaporean Pandas were able to listen to the soloist’s alluring live vocals that left all that were present, astonished.
After speaking to the fans and heading backstage for a wardrobe change, Eun Ji returned to the stage, donning a baby blue dress. Performing songs including the likes of ‘B’ and her OST from ‘Strong Woman Do Bong Soon’ titled ‘You’re My Garden’, Eun Ji continued to hit her high notes effortlessly, leaving the audience in awe with her vocal range and perfect pitch.
Taking a break from singing, Eun Ji picked out questions from a box and the crowd chanted for her to do ‘aegyo’. Curious, she asked the crowd if the word, ‘aegyo’, had an English translation, and found out that there wasn’t a English counterpart of the Korean word. One of the questions then required Eun Ji to do a set of sexy poses and the singer struggled with the request as she claimed that she had no idea how to do those poses. We wouldn’t worry if we were her – Pandas must already find her pretty, cute and sexy all at the same time! Giving up, the soloist decided to dance to APink’s Mr. Chu, which was very well-received by fans.
A fan of Eun Ji for seven years also wrote in a request for her to sing a duet with him and he was lucky as she welcomed him on stage. Singing ‘Hopefully Sky’ together, the blessed fan was able to fulfill his dream of singing with Eun Ji, leaving the rest of the fans in envy.
With a revised set list from her other shows, Eun Ji included songs such as ‘那些年‘, the OST from popular Chinese movie titled ‘You’re The Apple of My Eye’, and Adele’s ‘When We Were Young’. However, the crowd turned into exuberant fans when Eun Ji sang her sensational rendition of Ailee’s OST from ‘Goblin’, ‘I Will Go to You Like the First Snow’. The singer prepared the song for Singaporean fans as she found out that ‘Goblin’, is a Korean drama loved and watched by many in our country. As if the set list was not incredible enough, Eun Ji impressed the fans with her song covers of Bruno Mars’ ‘Treasure’ and Beyonce’s ‘Love on Top’, where she showed off her prodigious vocal range.
Back for her encore session, Eun Ji donned a simple white shirt paired with jeans. With two adorable clips that resembled fried eggs affixed on her hair, Eun Ji bid her fans ‘Farewell’, followed by her last song of the night, ‘First Love’. Promising to see the fans the next time she comes, Eun Ji left her fans with a contented heart and their ears ringing with her beautiful voice.
