[SINGAPORE] Eric Nam Invites Singaporean Fans to the ‘House on A Hill’

Eric Nam is no stranger to Singapore and has previously delighted local audiences with his highly energetic and engaging performances. So it comes as no surprise that attending House on a Hill World Tour Asia felt like reconnecting with a hilarious and musically talented friend.

Presented by Live Nation Singapore on February 18, 2024 at The Theatre at Mediacorp, Singapore was the second stop of the Asian leg of the Korean-American singer’s tour.

Upon arrival at the venue, concert attendees were enthusiastically greeted by fellow Singaporean NamNation members — dedicated fans from the local Eric Nam fan club EricNam_SG were handing out Eric-themed stickers as well as coloured stickers intended to cover attendees’ phone lights, thus transforming their phones into makeshift lightsticks.

Like a well-oiled machine, the show started right at 8PM. It was high-energy right from the get-go — Eric came bounding out on stage full of vitality and started performing Sink Or Swim and Undefined from his latest album, House on a Hill

If anyone’s ever been to an Eric Nam concert, they will know that the singer — also the host of the award-winning Daebak Show podcast — has a knack for keeping audiences engaged.

“Is anyone here against their will?!” he quipped, eliciting laughter from the crowd before urging everyone to jump up and join in the fun.

With infectious energy, he dove into crowd-pleasing dance tracks: Any Other Way, You’re Sexy I’m Sexy and Wildfire. Together with his two dancers, Eric showcased not only his singing prowess but his dance skills as well! During You’re Sexy I’m Sexy, Eric surprised the crowd with his body-rolling. Of course, that resulted in the crowd going wild. Adding to the intimacy of the concert, Eric also reciprocated several fans’ heart signs — we were pretty sure he threw us a finger heart as well!

Before continuing with the performance of the title track from House on a Hill, along with another track from the same album, Exist, he took the time to connect with the audience. Drawing parallels between his concerts and TED Talks, he shared insights into the creative process behind the album. He explained that House on a Hill was inspired by the times when he was experiencing moments of ‘existential crisis’.

Further showcasing his ability to connect with the audience, Eric encouraged everyone to join in and sing along to the songs, reassuring them with playful remarks such as: “It’s just four notes!”. And at Eric’s concerts, it’s also not just about the music — it’s about celebrations too. He has made it a tradition to call out to the audience and ask if anyone was celebrating their birthday that day. Those lucky fans were then serenaded by him.

Before diving into the heartfelt ballads, I Wish I Wasn’t Me and Love Die Young, Eric seamlessly transitioned into performing Don’t Leave Yet and Paradise. This was also when the audience was treated to a delightful skit where Eric entertained them with his impersonation of someone who couldn’t bear to leave a party.

Singaporean NamNation was in for another treat as Eric revealed two songs that he recently added to the tour’s Asian setlist: Good For You and Heaven’s Door. The latter was the lead single from his debut album, Cloud 9. Singing this song led Eric to reminisce about his 13 – 14 years of performing as a solo artist before he proceeded to sing the classics: Runaway and Honestly.

Before moving into the last song of the night, I Don’t Know You Anymore, Eric gathered the audience for a group photo and a video for his vlog. Of course, the audience wanted more and called out for an encore. Eric and the dancers returned to perform Only For a Moment and Congratulations for the encore. Before concluding the concert, Eric took a moment to remind fans to stay healthy and remember their worth — a fitting message from the co-founder of the mental health and wellness platform, Mindset.

Eric’s concerts are like a rollercoaster of excitement — once you are on, there is no way you are getting off without a smile plastered on your face.

Thank you, Live Nation Singapore, for the invitation to experience the excitement of Eric’s performances firsthand!
