The cast of epic Chinese New Year blockbuster Dragon Blade – Super Junior’s Choi Siwon, Jackie Chan, Adrien Brody, John Cusack, Lin Peng and Mika Wang, arrived in Singapore last week for a promotional tour. The stars flew in with great fanfare on Jackie’s Chan private jet on 10 February and met enthusiastic local fans at different events all in the span of one day,
from the press conference in the morning to the grand Gala Premiere at
night.
The first order of the day was a press conference where the cast members answered questions posed by the media. Siwon confidently stated that if he is able to dance, he feels that he would be able to act in action movies too. He cited Jackie Chan as a beloved mentor, who always lends a listening ear and helps him improve, and even acted as a translator for co-star John Cusack. The charming singer-cum-actor also declared his love for Singapore with a hearty ‘I love Singapore’! Singapore loves you too, Siwon!
Later in the day, the cast walked the red carpet at Golden Village VivoCity, where hordes of fans gathered to catch a glimpse of their favourite stars. Siwon once again expressed his delight at the opportunity to work alongside two esteemed Hollywood actors. The cast members then had a photo op with winners of a SingTel competition and thanked the fans for their support, before heading into the cinemas for the official Gala Premiere screening of Dragon Blade.
The sneak previews for Dragon Blade grossed a whopping S$147,662 in ticket sales within 3 days and made it to the No. 4 spot amidst strong competition. The sneaks result is extraordinary as there were only midnight and partial afternoon shows last weekend. “We are very happy with the sneaks results for Dragon Blade. The word of mouth is also very strong among the local audience. Dragon Blade proves to be Jackie Chan’s best work in recent years,” said Joyce Lee, Managing Director of Encore Films.
Dragon Blade is directed by the famous Hong Kong director Daniel Lee and co-distributed by Encore Films and Golden Village Pictures in Singapore. It is scheduled to open island-wide on the eve of Chinese New Year, February 18. Be sure not to miss it!
The Seoul Story would like to thank Encore Films for their hard work and for giving us the opportunity to cover the event!
