[SINGAPORE] BOL4 Blooms Beautifully at Return Concert

True to her word, singer-songwriter BOL4 returned to Singapore for a second concert on 18 January, slightly more than a year after her debut concert in 2023.

The concert is part of her 2025 Asia TourBloom, which also features stops in Seoul, Hong Kong, Tokyo, and Taipei.

With an unassuming stage set, the indie pop princess dazzled The Theatre at Mediacorp and proved why she is unrivalled in her genre.

Sincerity towards her craft

Dressed in a halter neck top, white layered skirt, and sparkly black boots, BOL4 was the picture of ethereality as she and her five-piece band performed crowd favourites such as Some, Tell me you love me, and Travel, as well as Bloom, her latest single released in October last year.

On Bloom, BOL4, whose birth name is Ahn Jiyoung, said that the pop rock song was inspired by her fans. “I hope you bloom beautifully,” she said. “I wish to be by your side when you’re lonely, and I want to be the first to congratulate you when you bloom.”

Her song Eternal Love is a promise to fans to become a better person. “You guys are like my people, and I feel like I need to be stronger for you.”

Impeccable chemistry with fans

You could tell that both BOL4 and fans were equally excited to be meeting in Singapore for the second time — as fans screamed at the first few seconds of Galaxy, the first song of the night, BOL4 was so taken aback that she laughed and missed a few lyrics.

BOL4 doesn’t typically dance for her songs, but real LoBolys would know that You(=I) comes with a little choreography. BOL4 selected a lucky fan to share an adorable moment with the singer dancing the choreography with her.

To get even closer to fans, BOL4 descended from the stage as she performed Seoul, locking eyes with fans on the ground and giving those seated on the upper stalls a closer view of herself. “I realised that you guys are beautiful seeing you closer.”

Singapore love

BOL4 was full of praises for the Singapore crowd that night, and she made sure to squeeze in a “shiok!” or a “swee lah!” to convey her high spirits. “I’m going to hype you guys up with all the words I’ve learnt today,” she said with determination. From “jialat”, “alamak”, and “did you makan?” to “chiobu” and “yandao”, the dimpled singer-songwriter did hilariously exhaust her vocabulary list. She even discussed with fans to change a line of the fan chant for Travel from “saranghae” to “love you lah”.

During the encore segment, BOL4 typically picks only one song requested by fans, but she made an exception and performed both Space and Chase Love Hard. “I didn’t do this for other stops,” she said carefully, making her bias towards Singapore clear once again.

BOL4 shared her worries about being forgotten by fans since the last time she visited the country. “But the moment I arrived, I received a cake and letters from you guys, so I realised that my Singapore fans haven’t forgotten about me!” She promised to be back soon and urged fans to eat well, sleep well, and stay healthy until that day comes.
