[SINGAPORE] After a Veri Long Time – VERIVERY and VERRERs Reunite at First Fanmeeting

What a way to ring in the new year! For Singaporean VERRERs, the new year began with a dream come true. VERIVERY launched their first performance of the year, returning after 7 long years for their first solo fanmeeting in Singapore on January 3, ‘Hello Veri Long Time’. The evening was a vibrant tapestry woven with high energy performances, soulful ballads, diverse games segments and heartwarming fan interactions. It was also a night full of laughter as VERIVERY lit up the stage with their comedic banter and funny antics. Yet, amidst the fun, the night also held moments full of emotion that tugged at our heartstrings, from heartfelt onstage exchanges to a surprise fan video and banner event prepared by VERRERs.

The night exploded into life with Undercover and G.B.T.B, instantly setting the theatre ablaze with energy. Cheers erupted as VERIVERY commanded the stage, reminding everyone why they had been so eagerly awaited. This was followed by a ‘Ment’ segment which offered a more intimate connection. “It’s been a long time, Singapore. I (feel) really good to (be) with you again.” Yongseung charmed the crowd with his endearing yet clumsy English. All the members took turns to tell VERRERs how much they have missed them. “I’ve really missed you all. Thank you so much for coming and let’s make some happy memories together.” Leader Dongheon’s promise to have a happy evening together set the tone right for the evening. Dongheon continued by pointing out that this marked VERIVERY’s very first solo show in Singapore since their last visit in 2019 for Hallyu Pop Fest. After such a long time apart, it was of no wonder why the members kept repeatedly expressing how much they had missed their Singaporean VERRERs.

Spin the Wheel: The Roulette Challenge

The games kickstarted with ‘Roulette Talk – Spin Me Round’ which brought a lot of laughter and playful competition. The rules were simple, the members had to spin the roulette and tackle the challenge it landed on. The members crushed dance challenges such as No Doubt by ENHYPEN and Roar by THE BOYZ. Dongheon initially expressed reservations on No Doubt based on all the past failed attempts, but Yongseung playfully injected “No no no, but Singapore is different!” The doubts proved to be unfounded as the members aced the dance challenges. A song challenge followed, with VERIVERY serenading the audience with My Beauty, the OST of the hit drama Extraordinary You.

The biggest highlight of this segment was when the roulette landed on Hola Solar, the iconic signal song from Boys II Planet, an Mnet reality competition survival show that Dongheon, Gyehyeon and Kangmin took part in. Dongheon, Gyehyeon and Kangmin stepped forward to deliver a perfect all star-worthy performance that left us jaw-dropped, transporting us straight back to the days of the survival show. Another highlight was when Dongheon requested Gyehyeon to sing a bit of Breathe by Lee-Hi, a song that Gyehyeon and Kangmin sang during the ‘Class Takeover Position Battle’ in the show. The audience could not help but to remain awestruck as his mellow honey-voice filled the theatre. Finally, what is a VERIVERY fanmeeting if the members did not make the youngest, Kangmin, do aegyo for the fans? VERRERs eagerly chanted “Overdrive! Overdrive!” and melted at his cuteness as he cutely danced to Overdrive by TWS.

A Trip Down the Boys II Planet Memory Lane: A Cover Song Extravaganza

The ‘Covers’ segment paid homage to songs featured on Boys II Planet, with renditions of SEVENTEEN’s Run to You, ONF’s We Must Love and TVXQ’s Rising Sun. Yeonho and Yeongseung breathed new life into Run to You that shot the energy of the room up. This was followed by We Must Love performed by Dongheon, Gyehyeon and Kangmin. This performance held a special significance for the 3 boys because it was the first performance that propelled them to an All-Star status during their ‘Class Placement Match’ on the survival show. The audience watched, awestruck and captivated by the performance previously only seen on-screen coming to life before their eyes. Finally, the group gathered for a powerful performance of Rising Sun, previously only performed by Dongheon on the show.

The intense performances were followed by the ‘VCR’ segment that featured a telepathy Bingo game where the members played a game where they had to give the same answers for various phrases such as ‘a lifetime song’ and ‘ending song’. The VCR drew large sounds of laughter from the audience due to their hilarious unsynchronised answers. The segment ended with the members picking Dongheon and Kangmin to do a 3-Set-Aegyo penalty for VERRERs.

More Games and Grooves, The Evening Deepens

The members showcased an electrifying performance of their newest song, Beggin’ after the VCR and then it was time for the next games segment: ‘Team Mission – Veri Good Team’. The funniest moments arose during the part where there would be a keyword shown on the screen and starting from the member on the most-right, they have to continue the previous person’s action related to the keyword and create a new action of their own. The keyword given was ‘Prince’, and Dongheon simply stood still for his action, declaring himself the prince. The members hurriedly exclaimed “Fail!”, drawing cackles from the crowd. Kangmin also misinterpreted ‘Prince’ to mean ‘Princess’, leading to a hilarious reenactment of Snow White, complete with a poisoned apple and dramatic collapse.

The audience broke into laughter as Kangmin came to the realisation of what ‘Prince’ actually meant. He saved the moment by saying he had not yet ended his turn, continuing his action by pretending to be a prince giving Snow White a saving kiss after that. Dongheon then stepped in to be Snow White slumped on the floor, saying Kangmin can only pass his turn if Kangmin gave him a saving kiss.

As the night drew to a close with Lay Back and All I Do, the members expressed their regret that the fanmeeting was ending, with only one last ending song to sing. But (not) to the audience’s surprise, the night was still far from over.

Not Ready To Say Goodbye: An Hour-Long Encore Begins

The venue dimmed and the crowd chanted “Encore! Encore!” as they eagerly waited for VERIVERY to take the stage once more. Verivery reappeared in fresh casual outfits, kicking off the encore with their youthful debut song Ring Ring Ring. The boys unfortunately could not come down into the audience that day but they compensated by ramping up their on-stage fanservice at any chance they could, through warm waves and camera poses, heartfelt gestures, intentional eye contact and borrowing phones to take selfie videos. The buoyant mood continued as they launched into a medley of energetic hits, Love Line, Heart Attack, Alright!, Childhood and Mystery light, even encouraging fans to all stand up from their seats and jump along. G.B.T.B and Ring Ring Ring made reappearances, sparking more waves of excitement among the crowd.

Just as VERIVERY prepared for a group photo, the lights dimmed, revealing a surprise – a touching fan-made video chronicling VERIVERY’s journey. The video featured heartfelt voice messages from VERRERs, not only from Singapore, but also from Malaysia, Indonesia, and the Philippines, congratulating VERIVERY on their 7th anniversary and expressing how much they meant to them. The members then turned around to discover a surprise banner event prepared by the fans. This surprise gesture deeply moved both VERRERs and the members.

Gyehyeon thanked VERRERs for preparing this event and expressed that it was very meaningful that the fan video contained their voices. Yeongseung also shared that as he watched the video, he realised how many VERRERs waited for them and he was so sorry for making them wait so long. Tears welled up in their eyes as they expressed their deepest gratitude for the fans’ unwavering support. Following this emotional moment, the evening drew to a close with a final performance of their soulful ballad Fine marking the end of the 3-hour long evening.

VERIVERY delivered a night that exceeded all expectations, a night full of laughter, warmth, healing and promise. One thing is clear, the bond between VERIVERY and VERRERs is stronger than ever and this is just the beginning of their next chapter together.
