[SINGAPORE] AB6IX Welcomes ABNEWs Into their Hollywood

Albeit debuting less than three months ago, AB6IX has become one of the fastest rising groups in the K-Pop industry with their debut song, “Breathe”. With this much success so early in the game, AB6IX has become one of the most-watched boy groups of the year. On 27 July 2019, the five boys embarked on their 1st press conference and fan meeting, <1st ABNEW>, in Singapore. 

Open Press Conference

At their Open Press Conference, AB6IX was welcomed fervently by fangirls and fanboys who have been waiting for them at the venue since hours prior. With their iconic “Salut” greeting, the idols were overwhelmed by the heightened screams and ginormous crowd that was present at the venue. 

During the press conference, the boys opened up about their lives to Singaporean ABNEWs. Bewildered by the energy radiated from his fans, Woojin expressed his thoughts about the heat – he felt hot not because of the Singapore weather, but due to the fan’s vivacity and passion for them. In a game where they had to answer questions by picking which member fulfilled the role best, fans were lucky enough to see Woong’s ‘aegyo’, Woojin’s sexy poses, and the boys’ favorite poses to do on stage. Through this intimate time of sharing, the fans were able to see the boys’ adorable interactions with each other, and learn more about the members themselves.

When asked about which AB6IX member they like best, all the members were flabbergasted at the question as they could not pick between themselves (they are all each other’s favorites). However, they decided that their favorite member is their 6th member, also known as ABNEWs! By charming the fans with such sweet words, it is hard not to fall in love with the five boys at once! When speaking about their next concept, Daehwi shares, “We love to try new things, next album we might try something cute, we might try something more hip-hop, look forward to our new music please!”

Fanmeeting

Starting the night with the electronic “Absolute”, the boys’ charms exploded on stage as they delivered precise dance moves and stable vocals on stage. During their Question and Answer segment on stage, the fans were in for a treat as they delved in deeper to know more about the AB6IX boys themselves. Through this session, ABNEWs learnt that the person who shopped the most was Daehwi, and that the smallest item Woojin ever bought was an egg from the convenience store. 

To usher in the new segment, AB6IX opened the new set with their debut song, “Breathe”, followed by the iconic bop, “Hollywood”, also known as Daehwi, Woojin, Youngmin and Donghyun’s audition song for the reality show, “Produce 101” Season 2. With “Dance For Two”, their mellow vocals encaptured the essence of longing and love for their fans. After performing the three songs, AB6IX’s friendship was put to the test as they were tasked to answer questions about each other. If at least one other person got their question correct, the member who’s question was asked would be rewarded with a Singapore traditional snack known as the “Kaya Toast”. 

During the segment, “What is Youngmin’s life motto?” was a question that was asked. At a loss, Daehwi wrote “YOLO” as his answer, causing laughter to erupt among the fans. Youngmin wrote “happy” as his answer, but turns out the right answer (from an interview months ago) was the phrase “enjoy your memories”. Although no one got the right answer, rules are meant to be broken, and Youngmin still had his fair share of his Kaya Toast.

Ending the night with “Shining Stars”, ABNEWs were able to share a diverting night with their gifted and down to earth idols. With their incredulous popularity that seems to be heading to even greater heights, we are excited to see the boys of AB6IX glimmer as a group for a long long time!
