Part of a two‐city tour that saw the dashing actor visit Indonesia prior to his stop here, ‘A Date with Joo Won’ saw more than 3,000 ardent fans turn up at the free‐for‐all meet‐and‐greet session held at Suntec City North Atrium (between Tower 1 and 2). Joo Won’s visit to both cities was joined by Park Hye Su, who played his on‐screen sister from the highly‐rated South Korean drama series, The Gang Doctor.
Here for the first time, both stars were in good spirits and could not wait to meet their fans. Fans turned up as early as 8 a.m. to reserve the best spot, to get up‐close and personal with the stars; with the first 300 fans receiving a Limited Edition set of The Gang Doctor postcards.
The electrifying atmosphere at Suntec City North Atrium shot to its peak when Joo Won and Park Hye Su emerged onstage. Fans started cheering and waving their specially‐made signs of the actor’s name, while a sea of camera flashes flooded the venue. A smile, a wave and a nod from their idol were all they needed to make their trip to the meet‐and‐greet worthwhile.
Joo Won, who just turned 28 in September, charmed everyone with his disarming personality and boyish good looks. The actor gamely interacted with fans by signing autographs and some lucky ones even had the opportunity to take a group photo and played games with him onstage. Up‐and‐coming singer‐actress, Park Hye Su, also drew loud cheers and applause from the appreciative audience with a special ballad performance of ‘Please Remember Only Me’, one of the original soundtracks from The Gang Doctor.
Starring alongside Joo Won and Park Hye Su in The Gang Doctor are fellow big-name actors such as Kim Tae Hee (Jang Ok Jung), Jo Hyun Jae (49 Days) and Chae Jung Ahn. The show is the most popular Korean prime‐time drama series of 2015, garnering record ratings in Korea and in the region. It is the first TV series to cross the 20% ratings mark in Korea since the 2014 supernatural hit My Love From The Star. As a result of the immense popularity of the series, it was even extended from 16 to 18 episodes. Fans who missed the first telecast of the series, which aired within 24 hours from Korea as part of the PPALI‐PPALI showtime segment, can catch the encore broadcast on channel ONE. More details are outlined below.
