[SINGAPORE] 2023 Korea Travel Fair – Unstoppable Crowd Amidst The Heat

The sweltering Singapore heat did not deter travel fans from attending 2023 Korea Travel Fair at Our Tampines Hub over the weekend!

Hosted by Korea Tourism Organization (Singapore), attendees were greeted with various booths and content, related to Korean travel, culture, fashion and entertainment throughout the three-day event. Various tour agencies and airlines such as T’way, Jeju Air and Singapore Airlines to name a few, were seen with physical booths set up to entice travel goers with the best deals in town! Visitors were also treated to all kinds of freebies exclusively available only during the fair.

With South Korea regarded as one of the most popular tourist destinations in Asia, it is no surprise that specific deals were curated to attract even more travellers into the country. Muslim-friendly tour packages by Azza Travel & Tours was also part of the exhibition, uniquely dedicated to Muslim travellers to gain easier access to accommodation and Halal food options which are usually trickier to navigate.

With thousands of travel enthusiasts recorded having visited the fair over the three days, it was a slightly busier Saturday as actor Lee Do Hyun graced the event as part of the fair’s official opening ceremony. The all-rounded artist greeted fans enthusiastically with roaring cheers and applause as he took centre stage.

He shared a TMI with fans saying that he went to a convenience store upon arrival and had some local snacks in which he felt there are definitely similarities between the convenience stores in Singapore and South Korea. On the topic of popularity, he humbly shared that it was fascinating to be recognised by strangers while making his purchase.

Of course, no trip to Singapore is complete without some food recommendations! Fans in attendance shared that he should try chilli crab, chicken rice, and laksa to name a few. Lee Do Hyun then revealed that he ordered bak kut teh the day before and it was certainly a feast! He also recommended samgyeopsal, kimchi jiggae and japchae as his top three Korean food.

Staying on-brand with the theme of his visit which is travel-related, Lee Do Hyun suggested the following places to visit when one is in South Korea:

• South Chungcheong Province, Mt. Seongheungsan Love Tree – Filming location of Hotel Del Luna
• Hapcheon Movie Theme Park – Filming location of Youth of May
• Paju First Garden – Filming location of 18 Again
• Cheongju Central Park – Filming location of The Glory
• Sodolhang Harbor Lighthouse – Filming location of The Glory

For fans who are interested to explore further, the actor also recommended Hangang, Busan and Gangneung as places to visit as well. Some personal travel must-have items for Lee Do Hyun includes bringing a sling bag, extra slippers and reading glasses wherever he goes. It was certainly a memorable afternoon to have the superstar himself spending time with fans in Singapore as he shared more travelling tips during the opening ceremony. Even though it was a short visit, he promised to be back again given the chance and hopefully gets to go golfing the next time he is here!
