[PHILIPPINES] The Night Manila was under the Bogum Magic

We signed up for a fan meeting—but what we got was a full-blast concert. Mediocrity is surely not in Park Bogum’s vocabulary.

Korean actor and could-have-been-idol Park Bogum, placed his Filipino fans under his spell as he spent a “Good Day” with them last Saturday, June 22, at the Mall of Asia Arena.

The Hallyu star was an ultimate and undeniable charmer during his first fan meeting in Manila. He started off the night looking like a complete gentleman in his elegant black suit, confessing his love to the thousands of Filipino fans present through the song, “I Like You” by DAY6.

Gentleman Bogum turned into the walking fluffball that he is always has when he officially greeted and welcomed his fans for the night—with the most charming and genuine smile on his face. He was then welcomed by the show’s host, Filipina actress and personality Anne Curtis—a self-declared Bogum fan herself. Anne even shared how she was shaking out of nervousness and excitement upon seeing Bogum in person!

Bogum shared that during Anne’s interview with him, he chose the name of the Asia Tour himself—Good Day. He said he just really wants to have a good day with his fans! He also revealed the four things he would want to achieve before he turns 40 (which is just 14 years from now): to get married, have a baby, be able to study abroad, and finally, act in a foreign film!

He also shared that he has been recently trying to improve his musicality by composing his own songs. He’s also currently working on “Seo Bok” (working title), an upcoming movie he will be doing with his fellow Hallyu star, Gong Yoo. Bogum would be playing the role of Seo Bok, the first ever human clone.

After the interview came the first corner for the fans: reenacting heart-fluttering scenes with Jinhyuk—Bogum’s character in his drama, Encounter. Three extremely lucky female fans were selected to have a special moment on stage with their angel: one shared a pair of earphones with Bogum, another (a Korean ahjumma) had the chance to have Bogum wrap a scarf around her, and the last one (who also received the loudest screams from the audience) experienced receiving a warm back hug from Bogum himself!

For the second corner, Bogum made a D.I.Y. scented diffuser. The actor also prepared with other gifts which he previously endorsed such as calendars, a pair of shoes “that will take you to good places,” a special edition of his light stick, a sweater similar to what he wore in Encounter, and the very shirt he wore in the show 2 Days 1 Night, were all given to lucky fans that night.

Onto the concert part of the show…

The second half of the fan meeting started with Bogum’s enchanting serenade. He sang various songs which were able to perfectly set the romantic mood for the night—”Let’s Go See the Stars” (which he sang while he roamed around the Arena to get closer to his fans), IU’s “Through the Night,” Baek A-Yeon’s “Always be with You” (an Encounter OST), and Bogum’s very own song for his drama Love in the Moonlight, “My Person.”

However, the emotional atmosphere of the crowd instantly changed into a hyped-up one as Bogum started with his song and dance numbers! He showed his moves when he enthusiastically sang and grooved to Cho Yong Pil’s “Bounce,” JYP’s “Honey,” B1A4’s “With You,” Sandeul’s “Swallowing my Heart,” and PSY’s “Entertainer.” It was then that Bogum was able to prove—he’s surely the total entertainer we’re asking for!

It was time to go emo again when Bogum asked his fans to listen carefully to his next song and follow him by reading the English translation of the lyrics, because it is something he wants to tell them. He then sang “Yes, We Are Together” from Infinite Challenge, thanking his fans for being with him all this time.

After this, Bogum oh-so-cutely sang a snippet of “Nasa ’yo na Ang Lahat,” an OPM song about a love confession. The cooing inside the Arena was automatic! The touching moment continued as Bogum played the piano while singing along to “I Will Be Here” (a sentimental yet hopeful song famous among Filipinos) and a part of “Jesus Loves Me.” Imagine hearing that directly from an angel personified?

The serenading continued after the fans’ special VCR event for Bogum and an impromptu “Boombastic” stage specially requested by the Filipino crowd. Bogum then sang G.O.D.’s “One Candle,” telling the audience that he wants them to remember this song whenever they feel exhausted and sad—that they should remember it as if Bogum himself is holding their hand.

At the end of the performance, he said one last thoughtful message before leaving the stage: “Love yourself.”

But the night didn’t end there! It was time for the much awaited encore stages! Bogum came back, looking good (as usual) in his Hawaiian top, and danced to three famous K-Pop songs: TWICE’s “What is Love?,” SEVENTEEN’s “Pretty U,” and an unexpected performance of BTS’ recent hit song, “Boy with Luv.”

After the crowd went wild over the BWL stage exclusive only to the Manila leg of the Good Day tour, Bogum shared that “TaeTae” was the one who taught him the choreography—pertaining to Kim Taehyung, also known as V, of globally acclaimed Korean artists BTS. The beautiful friendship of the two is famous both among ARMYs and Bogum’s fans.

The last two songs for the night were “Must Have Love” and DeulGukHwa’s “Blessing.” Through the songs’ lyrics, Bogum told his fans that “there are only good days ahead of us,” and leaves them for the night with this final message.

The lowkey-fan meeting, highkey-concert ended with everyone still in trance. The packed setlist, combined with Bogum’s undeniably natural and oozing charms and talent, has left all his Filipino fans wanting more—despite actually already getting much amount of love and happiness enough to last them until Bogum’s next visit to the Philippines.

One thing is certain though: the Bogum magic casted upon his Filipino fans that Saturday night will surely take time to wear off.
