[PHILIPPINES] Taecyeon Shares His Memories of Manila, How He Picks His Roles, & More at Press Conference

Ok Taecyeon is finally back in Manila after 10 years! The idol-actor held his first ever fan meeting in the Philippines, 2023 Ok Taecyeon in Manila: ‘SpecialTY’ last September 23, 2023 at the New Frontier Theater.

Before his fan meeting, Taecyeon met with members of the press at a media conference at the Novotel Manila Araneta City where he looked back on his 15-year career and bared his future plans in the entertainment industry.

Taecyeon last visited the Philippines 10 years ago for 2PM’s What Time Is It? tour. When asked about any memories he had about the country from that time, he replied, “It was very hot. That’s all I can remember. But our Filipino fans were so supportive, so loud, they were so energetic that it felt like all the fans were on stage performing with us.”

Moving on to his acting career, he shared, “I do want to expand my spectrum as an actor because every time I do a very light or very bright, comedic genre, [I then] do a very dark one, and then I do a bright one [again], and I try to keep expanding my horizon for my acting spectrum. I do wanna try different roles. I do want to see what other characters I can put myself into.”

He also mentioned that he would like to try something that would allow him to show his physique and his desire to pursue acting projects outside of South Korea. 

Taecyeon further expressed his enthusiasm about performing for his Filipino fans saying, “Actually, I prepared a lot of new stages for the Philippines. I mean, every city I go to, I prepare something new every time. And this time, I am going to sing a new song just for you guys.”

The actor also shared his desire for his fans to remember him as someone who brings happiness to everyone. He wants his fans to experience joy in everything he does and hopes to be a source of energy and strength in their lives.

Following Taecyeon’s SpecialTY fan meeting in Manila, he is headed next to Hong Kong, Bangkok, and Jakarta to continue his 2023 Asia tour.
