On May 3, 2023, Korean-American rapper pH-1, more endearingly known as Harry to fans, held a concert at The Filinvest Tent, Alabang for the Philippine stop of his About Damn Time tour. It is his first ever world tour since debuting in 2016.
Despite being a weekday, the venue was teeming with fans excited to see their favourite homebody perform live. The fans were so enthusiastic even minutes before the show started, singing along to tracks and chanting Harry’s name.
At exactly 8PM, the concert began with DJ Spray opening the show. If you have attended a concert in the Philippines, you would know that Filipinos need no hyping up, so when the star of the night finally appeared, the crowd went berserk. After his first song, MEET N GREET, Harry screamed: “What’s up, Manila? The energy here is crazy!”
He also taught the crowd the chant he uses for this tour – when he says, “I’m here!” the crowd responds with, “About damn time!” He then continued with Malibu, and PACKITUP! He also performed ZOMBIES, TIPSY, and YUPPIE TING – which are from his recent album But For Now Leave Me Alone.
The energy was already through the roof by the time somebody from the crowd threw a blue women’s undergarment on stage. Harry – whose favorite color is orange – then said, “My favorite color is now blue,” which sent the crowd cracking up.
During his talking segment, Harry asked if fans watched the idol survival show Boys Planet. He joked that despite his short screentime, he was actually a “Star Master” on the show. He also urged his fans to support the debuting group from the show, ZEROBASEONE, and then proceeded to tease about a possible collaboration with one of the contestants from the show.
After a couple of his more upbeat and intense songs, pH-1 slowed it down with DVD. He performed the track sitting down with a single spotlight shining down on him. The atmosphere became more intimate, and it was made even more special by fans when they created an “orange ocean” for Harry as part of their fan project.
Before the rapper continued performing the rest of the setlist, he asked the crowd if it’s okay to splash some water on them, to which everyone wholeheartedly agreed to! Harry also did not forget to do some fanservice; he took a phone and an instant camera from fans and took selfies with it. Even DJ Spray, who kept giving the audience thumbs ups during the concert, took a couple of pictures. It’s safe to say that the Filipino fans were definitely DJ Spray-approved.
Harry closed the show by giving a shout out to a talented fan who gifted him a custom-made jacket. GG, a budding fashion stylist, designed a “multi-wear tech + street outfit” especially for Harry’s About Damn Time Tour in Manila. Although he was unable to wear the outfit for the concert, Harry expressed his thanks and said that, “You are gifted with great talents so all you need is just good energy, good motivation, and inspiration.” What a heartwarming way to end an amazing show!
Albeit short, it was surely a damn good time! The Seoul Story would like to thank Karpos Live for the media invite. We hope to see pH-1 in the Philippines again soon! 🙂
