Blinding lights and shining diamonds: it was an event to behold when NOIR graced the Sofitel Philippine Plaza Grand Ballroom to see PH Lumieres again for their 2019 Meet & Live Tour called <The Ninth> in Manila. The boys were surely received with warmth and much screaming, as well as a couple of flying paper airplanes, from fans who had been anticipating the group’s first-ever concert.
The nine-member boy group, who debuted just last year under LUK Factory, had previously been in the Philippines for their first fan-meeting held at the Manila Hotel on December 21, 2018. They were here once more for the 2019 K-Pop Friendship Concert in Manila organized by the National Commission for Culture and the Arts, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and the Korean Cultural Center in the Philippines at the Mall of Asia Arena last March 7, 2019.
NOIR opened the show with a lit stage of ‘Airplane Mode’ followed by ‘Become A Star’. Each of the members then expressed their greetings to fans in the venue and said even though they have been in the Philippines a few times before, they are always eager to meet Lumieres here. Fans were quick to respond with cheers and applause, and NOIR serenaded them back singing to ‘Beautiful’.
Members Seunghoon, Yeonkuk, Junyong, Yunsung, Siheon, Hoyeon, Siha, Minhyuk, and Daewon then took time to answer fan messages and questions written on post-its that were posted on a whiteboard and brought to the stage. For this Q&A time, each of the members was given either a question to answer or a request to grant. Leader Seunghoon was asked to dedicate a few rap lines to fans, which he did. When asked what was his favorite song, Yeonkuk said it was their own song ‘Diamond.’ Meanwhile, Junyong and Yunsung were asked by fans to do their versions of aegyo.
When asked who would he like to date among the members if he were a girl, Siheon picked Yeonkuk. Siha mentioned his favorite subject has something to do with engineering, while Minhyuk said his favorite Filipino food would be dried mangoes. Seunghoon butted in and said his pick was the food from Jollibee, a popular local food chain among K-Pop idols who visit the country. Hoyeon then turned the atmosphere around when he danced to EXO’s ‘Love Shot’ as asked by a fan. Finally, Daewon settled the lovely mood when he answered the question “Is there a possibility for a NOIR member to fall in love with a Lumiere?”, to which he replied a sure and enthusiastic “Of course!” and added that they already love their fans. Aww!
NOIR’s first talk segment ended and was followed swiftly by captivating stages of ‘Hello’, their hip-hop unit’s ‘You Don’t Know Me’, their latest comeback song ‘Doom Doom’, and a special dance performance. They made sure to go around the stages to connect with fans up close, even holding hands with some of them as they performed. Up next was a VCR filmed by the members themselves showing them doing random things in a day of their lives as an idol group, suitably titled Daily of Noir.
PH Lumieres’ y/n life didn’t end there! Nine lucky fans were then picked to go on-stage to join the boys to play a game of charades. In the end, the team of Yeonkuk, Minhyuk, Siha, and a couple of lucky fans won the game by guessing the most words.
More performances followed suit, including NOIR’s dance cover of BTS’ ‘Boy With Luv’, an endearing performance of ‘Diamond’, and an angsty stage of their debut song ‘Gangsta.’ They also surprised fans not just by dancing to a song medley of ‘Fancy’ by TWICE, ‘Boss’ by NCT U, and ‘Alligator’ by MONSTA X, but also by entering from the back hall of the ballroom, granting fans an even closer glimpse of their beloved boys. Later after the show, each of the fans also got to participate in the hi-touch event.
In their final talk segment, maknae Daewon said they are happiest when they are with fans and thanked those in the venue for being passionate and supportive of them. Yunsung then shared that every time he comes to the Philippines, he feels really loved, that is why he is thankful to be back again to hold a concert. He also thanked the fans because without them, all of it would not have been possible. To end, Seunghoon made a promise to PH Lumieres that they would come back very soon.
NOIR ended their Meet & Live Tour with ‘Gift’, which was really an exchange of love from the boys through their performance. Fans threw paper airplanes towards the stage to represent both the idol group and their career: flyers flying higher than the sky.
We would like to thank FanLive PH for the media invite. Till the next event! Click HERE for more photos.
