Hands up ‘coz we definitely felt the vibe during NCT 127‘s NEO CITY – THE UNITY concert held last January 21, 2024 at the Philippine Sports Stadium in Bulacan.
Back after two years since they last performed in the country, the group held their first ever stadium show with Filipino Czennies. “This is our first stadium [performance] since we started our Unity tour and it feels great to perform outside,” leader Taeyong shared. From the queueing, to the cool weather, to the moon shining brightly during the show, it was definitely a lovely evening for both NCT 127 and fans alike. Jaehyun quipped, “I love the breeze, the vibe and the energy. Let’s keep it up until the end.”
Even without Taeil who is still recovering from an injury, members Taeyong, Johnny, Yuta, Doyoung, Jaehyun, Jungwoo, Mark and Haechan made sure to fill in the gap and brought out their A-game with an amazing setlist totaling to 28 songs.
While their hits like Cherry Bomb among many, proved why they are the “biggest hit on the stage”, seeing them perform their b-sides like Fly Away With Me and Love is a beauty is such a delight. These songs let us appreciate NCT 127 as great vocalists as much as they are great performers. Each member’s vocal tone makes them stand out individually, but together the harmonies they create are what makes them NCT 127.
During the set of Kick It, 2 Baddies, and Fact Check, Filipino Czennies pumped out the energy even more with their loud fan chants and singing. It was a riot of “puku puku pow pow” as Johnny led the entire stadium to sing the intro of Kick It in acapella.
For their encore, the group performed Angel Eyes, Be There For Me, and Promise You – as if a testament to the group’s commitment to fans to stay and their promise to come back to the Philippines again in the future. Johnny shared, “Thank you for coming to see us… Thank you for sharing this wonderful moment under the beautiful moon. We will be back and remember that NCT 127 will always, always be there for you.”
During their closing speech, Yuta said that he was actually not in his best condition but thanks to the fans’ energy he was able to finish it safely. Mark and Haechan both promised that they will come back again to meet more Filipino Czennies and even hoped for a two-day show. Jungwoo also shared, “I think we actually ripped it tonight. I think I’ll never forget your energy. I think I’m actually taking unforgettable memories [with me] tonight.” Doyoung also reminded the fans who screamed their loudest to take care of their voices and drink lots of water after the show.
NCT 127 NEO CITY – THE UNITY in Bulacan was definitely a je ne sais quoi moment for everyone who was there to experience and live it.
The Seoul Story would like to thank DNM Entertainment for inviting us to the show!
