After showcasing their musical prowess in Manila last KPop Republic 2, the energetic boys of N.Flying recently came back to the country. But this time, to hold their first-ever solo concert in front of their Filipino N.Fias!
It’s not a secret that N.Flying has experienced a lot in the past year or so. From losing a member to having hit songs that earned them not just music show wins, but also the #1 spot in almost all of South Korea’s music streaming sites, it has been a challenging journey, but the band showed no signs of stopping.
And finally, after two years of waiting, their local fans experienced a night full of energy and passion as N.Flying showed off their musical prowess at the New Frontier Theatre.
It’s undeniable that bands really do give one-of-a-kind vibe when it comes to their live performances. The venue was filled with music lovers of all ages, showing unbelievable enthusiasm from the beginning as they performed ‘Up All Night‘, ‘R U Ready?‘, and ‘Preview‘. This was just amazing as Hweseung and Seunghyub kept no part of the venue unattended as they ran around the stage.
Just like any other international act that got the chance to perform in Manila, N.Flying has also showcased some Filipino phrases they learned. This includes ‘Namiss ko talaga kayo! (I really missed you)‘ and ‘Gustong-gusto kita (I really really like you)‘, which Jaehyun adorably repeated several times while showing off his contagious smile. He also added that they tasted the local favorite – Jollibee – the night before with a Filipino sticky rice delicacy, sapin-sapin.
The band said that they know that it’s summer all year round in the Philippines, but they would gladly take their N.Fias through different seasons through their music. Spring, fall, and winter air immediately radiated through the theatre as they sang ‘Like A Flower‘, ‘Crossroad‘, and one of their singles, ‘Spring Memories‘.
And it was time for the moment N.Fias have all been waiting for. Ever since they uploaded a short clip of Hweseung singing ‘Huling El Bimbo‘ on their Twitter account, fans and non-fans alike have started to look forward to his possible cover of the legendary OPM song. He perfectly sang the refrain and chorus of the Eraserheads track while the crowd joined him, making it a perfect duet. To be honest, if we didn’t know he’s Korean, we’d probably think that he’s Filipino solely because of his almost perfect Tagalog pronunciation!
It was also Hweseung’s first time showing off his guitar skills publicly and we’re so honored to have witnessed it!
When you thought the cover segment was done, the power vocal put down his instrument, only to grab a stick microphone and put on a false mustache ala Freddie Mercury to perform a seven-minute Queen medley. This includes ‘We Will Rock You‘, ‘We Are The Champions‘, and ‘Bohemian Rhapsody‘. This ended with Jaehyun showing off his drumming skills and Cha Hoon making everyone swoon throughout his guitar solo.
Then it was time to bring the energy back up. N.Fias stood up from their seats once again to jump along with the beats of ‘Flowerwork‘, ‘Endless Summer‘, and ‘How R U Today?‘. Screams also erupted as soon as the first few notes of their massive hit song ‘Rooftop‘ was played.
During their last ment, the boys shared words of thankfulness and expressed how the concert will stay memorable of all of them. They added that they might have been nervous, but the energy of the crowd helped them enjoy the night.
They also acknowledged the person that completed the band for them that night, HONEYST leader and bassist, Seo Dongsung. He too expressed his gratitude towards the N.Fias that welcomed him.
The concert wrapped up with ‘The Real‘, ‘Fall With You‘, and a promise for their return in Manila soon. We can’t wait to see you again, N.Flying!
