It has been a long time of waiting, and finally, Lee Seung Gi brought his presence in the Philippines for the first time ever! Held at the New Frontier Theatre on October 11, his Manila stop was the kickoff of his Vagabond Voyage fan meeting tour.
It’s a full house and all the fans in the theatre cheered and screamed as the ‘Triple Threat‘ , Lee Seung Gi made his way to the stage and sang his hit song ‘Because You’re My Women‘. Filipino Airens (official fanclub name) surely swooned with that one.
With his powerful presence, he captured the heart of every single person in the venue with just the emotions in his voice while singing the powerful song. Once he’s done making people’s heart ache with overflowing adoration, it was time to know more about this Hwayugi actor. “The Vagabond Voyage is a journey to meet my Filipino fans and Vagabond is a drama that I put my heart and soul [into]. It was something that I worked hard on to show my fans that it’s really worth waiting for,” Seung Gi shared.
In the first portion of the talk called Big Data, keywords were shown at the screen along with photos connected to it. For the “fan meeting“, he talked about the fan meetings that are scheduled to be done in countries all over Asia like Thailand, Taiwan, and Japan, among others. He’s not only an actor but an amazing singer as well which is why he said that his favorite thing to do in his fan meetings is to sing for everyone.
The Filipino crowd never fails to impress almost every artist what comes to visit because even Seung Gi was surprised by how well everyone reacted to everything. The actor said that the event felt like a concert because of the energy.
The next keyword was “Ppero” which is the name of his dog. He shared that it was named after his birthday which is considered as Pepero Day in Korea. “If I don’t have food, it seems like Ppero doesn’t like me that much,” he adorably complained (It’s okay Seung Gi, we like you with or without food). Last but not least, the word “award” made him share what he really felt about receiving them. The thing about awards is he doesn’t really put a lot of sentiment to it, but if there’s a specific award for the most diligent and hard working actor, he would want that.
Highlights of his variety shows were also shown as his playful and colorful personality was showcased. He talked about some of the most memorable shows he has been on but when it came to Little Forest, he expressed his honesty and said that though it was fun working with the kids, he wouldn’t want to do it again as it was really tiring. He also said that he would want to have three kids in the future.
The reception for Vagabond was amazing, not just with Korea but all over South East Asia as well. After working on it for a year, Seung Gi said that he was actually impressed with how the quality turned out. Though there were no injuries during the filming, the actor was cautious about his fighting scenes as one small mistake could cause a lot of trouble. If you’re curious about how much hard work he did for the drama, a scene wherein he landed on the ground after falling from a building took four hours to film!
Seung Gi’s playful side came out when he got tasked to make a lunchbox for one of his fans. It was seen that he was meticulous and attentive to what he’s doing. Though he only prepared a weirdly special rendition of kimbap, he really took the time and effort to analyze each ingredient and utensil to make sure that everything will be intact.
The lucky Airen who won the kimbap was really deserving of it! Hailing from Butuan City, she flew all the way to Manila just to witness the special event. But that’s not the only effort she did for Seung Gi as she also flew to Singapore two times to see him and in Korea to witness him finally get discharged from the two-year mandatory military service.
It’s not a Lee Seung Gi fan meeting without more songs to jam to. He capped off the evening by presenting explosive stages of ‘Smile Boy‘ and ‘Let’s Go On A Vacation‘. He and his fans shared the same amount of energy as everyone jumped to the beat of his songs.
After nine years of waiting, Filipino Airens finally had the chance to experience what they’ve all been waiting for. The journey from watching him through the screen to seeing him live was truly an accomplishment that will keep them motivated from time to time.
As Seung Gi said, the first memory is really just the perfect memory and it’s a joy to finally experience it with his Filipino fans.
“Please stay with me and continue to become my reliable compass. Thank you so much. I love you,” Seung Gi said as a night filled with memorable things finally came to an end.
