[PHILIPPINES] K-Pop Royalty IVE Are Crowned as ‘The Prom Queens’ at First Fan Concert in Manila

Filipino DIVEs from all ages waved their light sticks for the first time and screamed their hearts out for IVE‘s First Fan Concert The Prom Queens in Manila held last June 17, 2023 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

The fan concert marks the Philippine concert stage debut of the six-member group composed of An Yujin, Jang Wonyoung, Gaeul, Rei, Liz, and Leeseo.

Gotten over that PCD yet? Neither have we! Let’s take a look back at the magical night with the Prom Queens!

IVE greeted the roaring crowd with a performance of their hit After LIKE from their third single album of the same name that was released August last year, followed by Take It.

During the first talking segment, Liz shared that they prepared a prom party that can be enjoyed by all the DIVEs in the audience. IVE then performed crowd-favourites My Satisfaction, ROYAL, and their latest pre-release single Kitsch.

As this is not your ordinary K-Pop concert, IVE prepared fun segments with a vibrant high school concept. The fans got the chance to know more about their favourite girl group as they competed games like “TMI”, “Emoji Quiz”, and “Random Play Dance” to become the Prom Queens of the night.

The members were divided into three teams: Team Manila (Yujin and Gaeul), Team Halo-Halo (Wonyoung and Leeseo) and Team Couple (Liz and Rei).

In between the quiz segment, Wonyoung said her wish is to see Filipino DIVEs and it came true that night! Liz also shared that she wishes to go to the amusement park with her members.

As for Leeseo, she said her current favorite emoji is a dinosaur (🦖) and Yujin shared hers is the heart emoji (🫶🏻).

The next segment was a “Random Play” dance challenge where the teams had to guess the song title and dance to it in order to get a point. Fans were thrilled to see IVE members dance to BLACKPINK Jisoo‘s Flower, EXO Kai’s Rover, SEVENTEEN BooSeokSoon’s Fighting, and aespa’s Spicy, among others. Team Manila (Yujin and Gaeul) definitely aced this segment but Team Halo-Halo (Jang Wonyoung and Leeseo) was crowned as the overall winner with the highest total accumulated points.

The members showed unique side of their charms through three unit stages: Wonyoung and Rei were pretty in pink with a cover of Meghan Trainor’s Me Too, Yujin and Liz sang a beautiful rendition of Jessie J’s Flashlight, and Gaeul and Leeseo set the stage on fire with a fierce dance cover of BLACKPINK’s Kill This Love.

IVE continued with performances of their hit songs I AM, LOVE DIVE, and their debut single ELEVEN, with the Manila crowd singing every lyric at the top of their lungs.

Filipino DIVEs also prepared a surprise fan video for the members while they raised a banner that says “IVE is our dream come true”. The members expressed their gratitude to the Filipino DIVEs’ warm welcome and great energy for their first solo concert in Manila.

“Every time I see DIVEs, I get positive energy and love…  I’m very happy that we got to start this tour with six members together. Thank you very much and I hope we get to store more precious memories together,” Rei thanked everyone, unable to hold back her tears.

“Today’s performance has been so hot. I’m not sure if it’s the weather or DIVEs. I hope in the future, we get to see each other more. I hope we can see each other very soon.” Yujin added.

Wonyoung also mentioned how memorable their first fan concert in the country was: “This is our first time in the Philippines. We will never forget this. I really hope to see you soon so please stay tuned.”

All members promised their return to the country as soon as possible. For their encore stages, IVE performed live band versions of LOVE DIVE, After LIKE, and Not Your Girl.

Let’s count one up to ELEVEN and wish to see IVE again in Manila soon!
