[PHILIPPINES] Jung Hae In Celebrates His ‘10th Season’ With Filipino Haeiness

South Korean actor Jung Hae In, known for his roles in popular K-Dramas like Something in the Rain, Snowdrop, and D.P., returned to Manila after four years for his The 10th Season Fan Meeting on August 6, 2023, held at the New Frontier Theater.

Dressed in white jeans and a lilac button-up shirt, Hae In kicked off the show by performing a cover of Crazy from the D.P. OST, originally sung by Kevin Oh and Primary. After the opening song, he greeted the audience in Tagalog, saying, “Hello, Manila! Magandang gabi. Ikinagagalak kong makita kayong muli. (Good evening. I’m happy to see you all again).” This delighted his fans, affectionately known as Haeiness.

Jung Hae In 101: An Insight Into His Career & Life

During the first segment, a board filled with sticky notes containing questions from fans was presented, and Hae In selected questions to answer. One fan asked about his thoughts on marriage, to which Hae In replied that he currently has no plans for marriage as he wants to focus on acting.

He also shared that he was pleasantly surprised by the positive reception of D.P. in the Philippines, even though mandatory military enlistment isn’t required in the country. In the drama, Hae In plays Private Ahn Joon Ho, a member of a deserter pursuit unit in the South Korean army. The second season of the show was recently released on July 28.

The next segment, Memory Photo Studio, offered fans a peek into Hae In’s life through unreleased photos from his camera roll. These photos included shots of Hae In against a hilly landscape and at a whiskey distillery.

He mentioned that these were taken during the filming of his new variety show, which he embarked on with fellow actor Yim Si Wan in Scotland. The show, The Actors are Travelling (literal title), is set to be broadcasted in South Korea starting August 23.

Hae In also shared a screenshot of D.P. reaching the #1 spot on Netflix Korea. He humorously noted that while it’s a top show in Korea, it’s ranked 10th in the Philippines. He encouraged his Filipino fans to watch the series: “Filipino Haeiness, fighting!” he said jokingly, earning laughs from everyone in the theater. This is your sign to binge D.P. Season 2 if you haven’t already!

In the segment titled Hae In’s Museum, the actor displayed various props from his previous dramas, including a black hat from Connect, a military beret and uniform from D.P., and a roll of bandage from Snowdrop.

He mentioned that he studied the character of Lim Soo Ho from Snowdrop the most extensively due to the complexity of the role, saying that he had to thoroughly analyse the character’s motivations for his actions.

Regarding characters he found challenging to detach from, Hae In cited Seo Joon Hee from Something in the Rain and Park Seon Woo from his upcoming film, Veteran 2.

Filipino Haeiness also voted a scene from Something in the Rain as their favourite in a survey conducted prior to the fan meeting. Hae In expressed his gratitude to his fans for giving the series so much love: “I thought it would only be #1 in Korea, but it’s the same in the Philippines, too. Thank you for loving the drama even though it’s five years old.”

Jung Hae In Plays Golf & Gives Advice

Following a brief intermission and an outfit change,  Hae In returned to the stage to sing Memories More Than Love from the Snowdrop OST. This was followed by a mini golf game, where Hae In aimed to get a hole-in-one to win various accessories that fans could photograph him wearing.

Achieving a hole-in-one proved more challenging than expected! The actor had to retake a lot of shots beyond what was originally planned because he kept missing them. 😂 With assistance from host Sam Oh, Hae In finally scored points and awarded fans with the photo time prize. The host eventually had to tell the staff to quickly remove the golf setup from the stage as Hae In got too immersed in the game, making everyone laugh.

During the last segment, Hae In read letters from fans recounting their experiences over the past decade. One fan sought advice on overcoming parental lack of support for pursuing a different career path.

Hae In shared that even his parents were initially hesitant about his acting career due to its tendency to be unstable. He added that his parents root for him now, but he had to work hard in order to prove himself to them.

Selected fans whose letters were read received gifts personally chosen by Hae In. They also had the opportunity to hug the actor and take selfies on stage! Hae In then concluded the segment with the song Hidden Road.

Jung Hae-In’s Unbreakable Bond With Haeiness

The fan meeting held special significance as it coincided with Hae In’s 10th debut anniversary. Of course, Filipino Haeiness wouldn’t let this occasion pass without doing something memorable for their favourite actor, and so they gifted him a heartfelt VCR showing the highlights of his decade-old career.

Overwhelmed, Hae In was moved to tears and struggled to contain his emotions during his closing remarks. He expressed his deep appreciation to his fans: “Filipino Haeiness are the best! Maraming salamat po. Ingat ka. Mahal na mahal kita. (Thank you very much. Please take care. I love you so much).”

For his final song, Hae In performed a cover of Hyolyn’s I Choose to Love You. “I respect and love you” were the actor’s parting words for his fans as he bid farewell.

Despite the nearly three-hour duration of the fan meeting, it felt like time passed swiftly. Host Sam Oh pointed out that in her many years of experience as an emcee, this was the first time she witnessed an actor extending a fan meeting as much as he can.

Hae In even said himself that he doesn’t want to end the show, and this just goes to show how grateful he is to his beloved Hainess for staying with and cheering for him for a decade.

“We love you in every season” was written in the banners raised by Hainess during their fan project, reflecting the enduring bond between the actor and his fans. Indeed, the profound affection between them was evident in every second of the fan meeting.

We’re cheering for Hae In and his Haeiness to be blissful this season and in every season to come! Jung Hae In, fighting! Haeiness, fighting! ❤️

The Seoul Story would like to thank CDM Entertainment and Viu Philippines for the media invite! We hope to see Jung Hae In in Manila again soon. 🙂
