[PHILIPPINES] EXO Turns The World Silver At ‘The EXO’LuXion’ In Manila

EXO, being one of the biggest KPOP groups in the world landed in Manila and held their first ever two-nights concert in the SM Mall Of Asia Arena. After waiting for almost four years for a solo concert, EXO finally brought their second world tour ‘The EXO’LuXion‘ for Philippine EXO-Ls to witness. The concert was one of a kind with the awesome stage structure and visuals that were certainly a feast for the eyes.

Lights were turned off and soon after, a silver ocean emerged as Suho, Baekhyun, Chanyeol, D.O., Kai, Sehun, Xiumin, and Chen started off with their hit song ‘Overdose’ followed by ‘History’. Even though Kai and Xiumin were seated the whole time because of their injuries, they were seen in awe as the stadium was filled with such passionate fans.

Light sabers appeared at the middle portion of the stage as the boys danced and sang along for ‘El Dorado’, ‘Don’t Go’ and ‘Playboy’. Vocal line D.O, Baekhyun and Suho then serenaded fans with ‘Baby Don’t Cry’. Baekhyun also played the piano for ‘My Answer’.

Another highlight during the concert was when a special VCR was shown in which EXO acted as ideal dream guys before they performed ‘The Star’ and ‘Exodus’ while looking dashing in their dark red suits. It was followed by a clip of the members being little minions and acting cute inside a coffee machine as the concert made its transition from all blazing hot stages to a heartwarming and gleeful atmosphere. EXO continued the momentum with adorable Mickey Mouse red hats while they acted goofy for ‘Peter Pan’, ‘XOXO’ and ‘365’ that were obviously fan favorites.

The boys lightened up the mood further with ‘Christmas Day’, ‘First Snow’, and ‘Miracles in December’. Resident Happy Virus and biceps rich member Chanyeol transformed into a DJ as he made an appearance wearing a classic black and white suit that brought the house down as he turned the knobs for ‘Full Moon’, ‘Machine’, ‘Let Out The Beast’ and ‘Run’.

Chart-toppers like ‘Growl’, ‘Call Me Baby’, and ‘Love Me Right’ were not only performed by the members themselves as they noticed a number of fans at the standing areas dancing along. EXO was amazed at how good they were and said that it was their first time seeing fans dance (good enough to be back-up dancers) to their songs at their own concert! They also pointed out that they were impressed the fans sang all songs in full Korean. Baekhyun even made jokes as he labeled the Filipino fans as ‘PHILIXO’ and later on, ‘PHIXO’ (Philippines + EXO). Chanyeol expressed how much he wanted to go to Pagsanjan Falls and DO later stated that he likes mangoes followed by “I look like [a] mango.” Which earned him the nickname ‘DOmango’.

Tears filled the arena as a pre-encore video was shown containing EXO’s hardships as a group and their utmost sincere thank yous to all EXO-Ls for being with them every step of the way. A special fan project followed soon after with banners soaring high showing, “We always want to stay with you. Don’t go!” as they sang ‘Sing For You‘. The EXOLuXion ended with a performance of ‘Unfair’ and with them saying that they did not feel like going back home even though they had to. And with that, they promised that fans will see them again and they’ll try to return to Manila as soon as they can.

EXO’s journey has been a bumpy one with all the hardships that surfaced along the way but it was evident that they have always managed to smile despite everything. The boys’ sincerity when it comes to loving their fans is undeniable as within two days, EXO-Ls witnessed it for themselves. For the Filipino fans, all the waiting was worth it as it wasn’t only a concert they attended, it was a date, a party, a reunion, a family bonding, and a whole lot more worth remembering. EXO will move on with their tour and do more amazing things in the future but one thing’s for sure, the night serves as a special memory in everyone’s hearts.
