Wi Ha Jun, one of South Korea’s most sought-after actors, visited the Philippines for the first time for a fan meeting with lifestyle and clothing brand BENCH/ held last May 21, 2023 at the New Frontier Theater.
The actor was revealed as an ambassador of the homegrown clothing brand last year. Wi Ha Jun joins the club of K-Drama stars that BENCH/ has tapped as endorsers, which include Kim Seon Ho, Ji Chang Wook, Park Seo Joon, and Kim Soo Hyun.
A day prior to the fan meeting, a press conference was held at the EDSA Shangri-La Manila where Wi Ha Jun talked about his first impression of the Philippines, his fashion style, and his next dream role!
Wi Ha Jun shared to the local press that it’s his first time to visit the country, and he was very nervous but also very happy as well. He revealed, “My first impression of the Philippines since I arrived is that it’s a warm country with very welcoming people.”
The actor said that he would like to explore the country’s top destinations in Boracay and Cebu, and visit local BENCH/ stores too: “Sometimes my fans would send pictures in front of posters of me wearing Bench clothing in the stores. I personally want to visit these stores and see the clothes myself.”
Working with the BENCH/ team was a whole new experience to him, and he shared that he was very happy while doing the project. When asked about his own fashion style, Wi Ha Jun said that he likes wearing outfits that are casual and comfortable.
Aside from gaining fame from the global Netflix phenomenon Squid Game, the 31-year-old actor is also known for starring in other Korean drama series such as Bad & Crazy and Little Women.
Out of the characters that he played, Wi Ha Jun thinks that the most similar to him is Hwang Jun Ho from Squid Game. “When I was preparing for the role of Hwang Jun Ho, everyone was telling me how similar I was to him. I also had the same sense of justice and I am a consistent person with the things I want to resolve,” the actor shared.
For his next role, he hopes to act in a romance genre wherein his character will fall in love with a beautiful girl in an island.
Before ending the short catch-up with the press, Wi Ha Jun shared that he often reads letters from his fans and that it helps him remain grounded even after his continued success.
The Seoul Story would like to extend a big thank you to BENCH/ for sending us a media invite!
