Rising South Korean actor Byeon Woo Seok recently held an exclusive media conference prior to his Summer Letter in Manila fanmeeting tour, sharing his excitement about his latest project and expressing heartfelt appreciation for his fans.

Over the years, the actor has carved a niche for himself in the Korean entertainment industry with standout performances in popular dramas like Record of Youth, 20th Century Girl, and Flower Crew: Joseon Marriage Agency.

On his sudden rise to fame, Byeon admitted, “I’m still not used to this sudden popularity at the moment. Every day itself is a big surprise to me right now. It’s like a dream.”

Expressing his love for his international fan base, he said, “It’s so nice to be here in the Philippines. I’m actually thrilled and excited.” Woo Seok’s affection for his fans was palpable as he spoke about the joy of meeting supporters from different parts of the world.

When asked about his role selection process, Woo Seok revealed that while he is eager to explore diverse characters, the script for Lovely Runner resonated deeply with him. “I could relate to Sun Jae and wanted to play him right away,” he shared.

Interestingly, the actor also shared a quirky tidbit about himself: despite not drinking coffee, he could see himself as a coffee shop owner. “I like to serve coffee as a barista,” he mused, hinting at a possible alternative career path if he wasn’t an actor or a model.

Fans were delighted to hear that he’s open to another rom-com project, provided the script is compelling enough. “It needs to be a really impressive script to read,” he emphasized.

Reflecting on his acting career, Woo Seok hopes to be remembered fondly for each character he portrays. “Since you liked Sun Jae, I hope you also love and adore the next characters I will play. I hope you remember every character I would play,” he said earnestly.

He attributed his on-screen chemistry with co-stars to genuine off-screen interactions. “I really just take time to talk to them. And that should be enough,” he noted, dismissing any notion of a secret formula when it comes to giving a convincing romantic performance.

He recommended fans watch Strong Girl Nam Soon and 20th Century Girl, describing all his projects as remarkable and memorable. Reflecting on the success of Lovely Runner, he said, “I’m still in awe with how well-loved it was. I did not expect it, but as much as I enjoyed filming it, I hoped you would like it. I’m very grateful that everyone loves Lovely Runner so much.”

Woo Seok recounted his favorite scenes from Lovely Runner, including his heartfelt confession of love to Sol, a touching moment with his father, and an emotional declaration in episode ten.

Lovely Runner was the first time I was the lead character. I did not expect it to be this successful. I hope that people will like it and have the same thoughts,” he added.

The actor wished his fans a memorable experience at his fanmeeting, saying that his only wish is for his fans to have a good time. He expressed gratitude for their support and hoped they would continue to love his future characters. “Thank you so much for your overwhelming love, not just to me but also to Ryu Sun Jae. I hope I can see all of you tomorrow [at the fanmeeting]. Please look forward to my next project which will be released in a few months.”

As the media conference concluded, Woo Seok reminded everyone to stay safe in the rain. “It’s raining outside so please take care on your way home,” he advised.

Indeed, Byeon Woo Seok’s charm and humility were on full display, leaving fans in Manila eagerly anticipating his next visit and upcoming projects.
