[PHILIPPINES] APINK: Showing A New Wave of Freshness at MTV Music Evolution Manila 2016

MTV Music Evolution returned to Manila this year bringing more fun and excitement alongside big names in the line up. It was truly an impressive event for the Filipino crowd as the artists performed at the Mall of Asia Concert Grounds last Friday.

Gary Valenciano and his son Gab Valenciano as well as one of the most popular couples in the country James Reid and Nadine Lustre were part of the glorious line-up. Promising foreign acts were also present namely singer-songwriter Bebe Rexha, Far East Movement, and One Republic. MTV also took their event to the next level by giving Filipino Pink Pandas and KPOP enthusiasts the chance to see APINK live in Manila for the very first time.

The hype was real for the six gorgeous ladies of APINK as their fans scrambled for tickets and dominated most of the contests just to see Chorong, Bomi, Namjoo, Eunji, Naeun, and Hayoung perform some of their hits. Their popularity was later acknowledged when the media could not get enough of the girls during the press conference.

The girls entered wearing blue and white outfits and greeted everyone with warm smiles and sweet gestures.

As the media asked some questions, they hinted about their upcoming variety show that was filmed in various countries. Leader Chorong also shared they will be returning with a new album soon and might hold a concert after their comeback promotions.

The girls were also amused when a media representative sang and danced to their hit song “Remember“. One guy also attracted some attention as he proudly waved his pink panda lightstick as soon as APINK came into the room.

The girls ended the press conference by thanking everyone for such a warm welcome and expressed their desire to come back in the future.

MTV Music Evolution 2016

The first act was father and son Gary Valenciano and Gab Valenciano, followed by James Reid and Nadine Lustre, with Bebe Rexha soon after. As soon as Bebe finished her energetic stage, the crowd screamed for APINK as the hosts hinted that they were next to perform.

The girls greeted everyone and sang their first song “Remember” as videos of fans dancing to the song were shown on the screens. They continued hyping the crowd with a performance of “Mr. Chu” next. Pink Pandas were united as they screamed the fanchants in unison, alerting APINK on stage who then began pointing their mics towards the crowd.

The set continued on with “Attracted To U”,  and one of the crowd favorites, “No No No“. The girls expressed their sincerest thank yous to everyone who came to see them despite it being their first time in the country.

They ended their stage with “Luv” as “Far East Movement”, and world renowned band “One Republic” took the stage next.

The huge recognition of KPOP in the country was proven once again with APINK fans owning a massive part of the crowd. APINK definitely gave a fresh new vibe to the MTV Music Evolution scene that left the audience amazed and wanting for more.
